May Week 4
Friday 27th May
THE FIRST LIVINGSTONE TAG RUGBY TOURNAMENT!
On Tuesday we hosted the first Livingstone Tag Rugby Tournament. This is a new initiative for us and teams came from Queenwell and All Saints. The atmosphere was fantastic and all the games were played with great spirit. Lots of tries were scored and everybody had a great time. In the 3rd- 4th place play-off Livingstone ‘Bears’ were beaten by Queenswell 4-3 in very close match and in the final Livingstone’s ‘Poochies’ (Mr Madle’s idea) beat All Saints 3-2.
British values continue to feature prominently in our assembly programme for the year and this term we have been promoting themes of Democracy and the rule of law. We always talk to the children about important national events such as elections and emphasise the importance of voting as a means of expressing their views and influencing decisions which affect them.
Despite what may have been in the news last night, the Paris Year 5 experienced was very peaceful and the pupils had a fabulous time taking in the sights and meeting their French Penpals. Thank you to Ms Papas who has been teaching French to Year 5. She set up all the video links before-hand and arranged a meeting with our partner school under the Eiffel Tower! Thank you to Mrs Snell and Miss Nicholson who organised an alternative French Day in school so no one missed out on the day and thank you also to Mrs Craddock and Mr Ephgrave who made the trip so enjoyable for everyone. Year 5 were a credit to Livingstone even though some bought some slightly unusual and very noisy souvenirs of Paris.
Uniform sale. Many thanks to everyone who donated, bought and helped with the uniform stall this week. We will be running a final stall on Thursday 9th June (before and after school). Good quality jumpers and cardigans with the Livingstone logo are very popular so any further donations via the school office would be greatly appreciated.
We had a Mathlectics Assembly today and an amazing 200 certificates were presented to pupils of all ages, with over a million points scored, - a school record. So many pupils did well that we extended our reward trip to include more pupils than usual. As a further incentive we are going to provide an extra outing for pupils who are new to Mathletics who score over 1,000 points. So if your child is new to Mathletics encourage them to start and you will notice an improvement in their ability to do calculations. Gold Certificates were presented to Christiana, Daniel B, Savish, Shivani, Helin and Terence.
Please see school office for school trips.
