Curriculum Letter

Livingstone Primary and Nursery School

Year Three Autumn Curriculum

September,2015

 Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to another academic year here at Livingstone. I hope that you have all had an enjoyable and restful holiday. Our topics this term are ‘Roald Dahl’ and ‘Ancient Egypt’ (more news later about a trip to the British Museum in November) and anything you can do to support your child on the learning set out in this pack will really help their progress.

The children will be given homework once a week, one piece of Literacy, one piece of Numeracy and spellings to learn which will  be handed out on Friday and  expected back in school, completed, by the following Wednesday. Homework should be completed independently if possible but if your child needs support from you to complete the work, it is really helpful to know how much (just a quick note on the homework will be fine). Children should not spend much more than an hour in total over the week on homework.

It is really important that your child reads every day for at least 10 minutes. Your child will be given a reading diary, a reading book and/or a library book of their choice, suitable for their level. Could you please make a note in the diary whenever they read with the date, title and number of pages, and we will check it on Tuesday each week. Regular readers will receive a free book each term as a reward.

Please make sure that your child has their (LABELLED) PE kit in school every day (including jogging bottoms and sweatshirt for cold days). Our outdoor PE day this term is Wednesday but opportunities may arise on other days, so best to keep it at school all week.

Many thanks for your support.
