PE Premium 2018-2019

The government has allocated schools funding to improve the provision of Sport. This gives our school the chance to enhance our level of physical activity and to promote physical fitness.

At Livingstone Primary and Nursery School we pride ourselves with our P.E ethos. We are dedicated to raising physical fitness, encouraging healthy competition, promoting healthy life styles, providing good P.E lessons and raising aspirations for sport. We have a committed team who strive to ensure children receive high quality sport experiences.  Throughout the school, each class has two timetables sessions of P.E per week with a specialist coach. Extra sessions are provided for EYFS. Additionally, swimming lessons are made compulsory for Year 4 in Autumn and Spring and Year 3 in the summer term. Engagement of sport is very important and we offer a range of different extra-curricular clubs afterschool for children across the school. We are lucky to have a sports apprentice who leads P.E sessions, hosts early morning activity sessions and a fitness club to improve children who are less active.

Sustainability

At Livingstone School we are investing our funding into:

  • Improving healthy eating and lifestyles
  • Training for staff.
  • Playground equipment and P.E equipment
  • Targeting less physically active children.
  • Promoting sport to all year groups.
  • Extra swimming sessions

Vision

Our vision with the P.E and Sports premium is to raise the participation of all pupils in Physical activity, education and School sports, regardless of ability, disability, gender, culture or social background. By effective teaching, training and providing a rounded extra-curricular timetable we aim to allow all pupils attending Livingstone to experience the benefits of joining in with physical activity, and making healthy lifestyle choices. By listening to ‘pupil voice’ we want our children to have the opportunity to be in control of their Physical Education at Livingstone and through leadership roles encourage all our children to lead healthier lifestyles.

Our aims for 2018-2019 are:

  • To maintain the high quality of teaching and coaching
  • To celebrate the enjoyment gained from participation by increasing the amount of inter and intra school competitions and participation in school sport.
  • To monitor the fitness and health of the students
  • To raise participation of pupils in extra-curricular activities to 80%
  • To raise awareness of our school sports activities to parents, the local community and external sports clubs.
  • To engage at least 15% of students in sporting leadership roles.

Key Achievements

We have a strong enthusiastic P.E team that are dedicated to aiding children’s participation and engagement.  Our participation in school sports and extra-curricular activities is the highest it has ever been at Livingstone. We have had over 90% participation of children throughout KS1 and KS2. This has been achieved by offering extra activity sessions for children who had not attended an after school club and arranging a range of competitions and clubs to keep up with the ever-growing demands from our pupils. We are continuing to monitor the fitness levels of all the children and are targeting children who are less active to improve their fitness levels. In the recent academic year and in 2017/18, we was able to secure ‘Gold Games Mark’ from Sainsbury’s School Games. As well as earn the gold award for KS1 due to the high volume of children taking part in increasing sporting activity.
