Read with Me

DSCF0690

Parents and Carers are invited into the school to read with the Reception and KS1 children. This happens weekly from 8:50am to 9:10am.

Monday - Year 1A

Tuesday - Year 2E

Wednesday - Reception

Thursday - Year 2AP

Friday - Year 1G

Every term at Livingstone we have a ‘Read With Me’ assembly and the children receive a free book of their choice and a book mark to celebrate their reading successes.

Tips for helping your child to enjoy books:

  • Encourage your child to look at a books before he or she can read words e.g. looking at pictures.
  • Visit the library as often as possible
  • Schedule a regular time for reading - perhaps when you get home from school or just before bed.
  • Borrow or buy dual-language books if English isn’t your family’s first language - you can talk about books and stories, and develop a love for them, in any language.
  • Look for books on topics that you know your child is interested in - maybe dragons, insects, cookery or a certain sport.
  • Make sure that children’s books are easily accessible at home.
