Nursery Admissions
Starting Nursery is a big milestone and we understand how important it is to find a place where your child feels happy, safe and valued. At Livingstone Nursery we provide a caring, nurturing environment where every child is encouraged to grow in confidence, develop a love of learning and reach their full potential through play, exploration and meaningful experiences.
Our experienced team takes the time to build strong relationships with both children and their families, ensuring every child feels settled, supported and ready to thrive.
Our Nursery Places
We offer Nursery places for children from the age of three, as well as our Rising 3s provision.
Rising 3s
Our Rising 3s provision gives children the opportunity to begin their Nursery journey the term before they turn three, helping them settle into routines, make new friends and build confidence before their third birthday.
For example, if your child turns three in October, they can join us from September.
Children can access a Rising 3s place if they:
- Have an eligible funded childcare code or
- Attend through privately funded sessions.
If you would like to find out whether your child is eligible, please visit https://beststartinlife.gov.uk/childcare-early-years-education/15-and-30-hours-support/additional-support/eligibility/
Government-Funded Childcare
We offer both 15-hour and 30-hour funded childcare places for eligible families.
15 Hours Free Childcare
All children are entitled to 15 hours of funded early education from the term after their third birthday.
30 Hours Funded Childcare
Many working families may be eligible for up to 30 hours of funded childcare.
To check your eligibility and apply for your childcare code, visit https://beststartinlife.gov.uk/childcare-early-years-education/15-and-30-hours-support/working-families/
If you are eligible, you will receive a 30-hour code, which you will need to provide to the school before your funded place can be confirmed.
Please remember that 30-hour codes need to be reconfirmed every three months to remain valid. Our team is always happy to help if you have any questions about childcare funding or the application process.

Admission into Reception
You should start thinking about your child starting in a Reception class in the September following their third birthday.
- You can apply online at eAdmissions external link
-
If you would prefer a paper form you can contact the Admissions Team at www.barnet.gov.uk to request an application pack. You will then be sent a Common Application Form (CAF) and brochure in the post.
Please Note - Attending our Nursery does not automatically guarantee a place in Reception.
For help or further advice on primary school admissions please contact a member of the school office team on 020 8449 2592.
In Year Admissions
Local authorities will co-ordinate applications from their residents for places at all maintained primary and secondary schools.
This means that you will complete one Common Application Form (CAF) provided by the council in which you live.
- If you live in Barnet you should complete the In-year Admissions CAF
- If you live outside Barnet, you must obtain an application form from the local authority where you live.
Appeals
All school admissions, including ‘in-year’ admissions, appeals and ‘in-year fair access panel’ appeals are administered via the Local Authority. Livingstone Primary and Nursery School has no input or influence on this process.
