The Parent Teacher Association
The PTA advances the education of pupils in the school by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities for education in the school.
What does the PTA do?
It raises money to fund items the school may not normally provide out of its budget. Purchases include a mini bus, the large projector and screen in the main hall, a music system to be used in productions and assemblies, fantastic new staging and of course the ongoing contribution of the books given as prizes to the children each term throughout the year.
How do I join?
There is no joining fee or annual subscription, and if you are a parent/guardian/carer of a child currently attending Livingstone School, you are automatically a member as are the staff. Anyone who has the interests of the school at heart is very welcome.
What do I have to commit to?
As much or as little time as you choose. The PTA normally meet twice each half term at 6pm. The chairman, vice chairman, treasurer and secretary need to attend consistently, however, other members do not need to be as committed. Although, of course, regular attendance would be good, any members are welcome to attend any meetings at any time. Your present PTA works very hard but we do need new people who may bring fresh ideas, so please come along to find out what it’s like. You don’t need to be afraid that you are making a huge commitment of time for evermore and you might even enjoy yourself. It’s a great way to meet new people and make lots of friends.
What IS needed is your help and/or attendance at events.
We can only successfully raise money to help your children if we receive sufficient help from YOU. Do please help if you can, even if it’s only an hour or two here and there- many hands make light work and all that!!!! We are consistently seeking new ideas for fundraising and welcome any suggestions on planning events and making Livingstone’s PTA a bigger success than it already is.
