Science
A high-quality science education provides the foundations for understanding the world through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics. Science has changed our lives and is vital to the world’s future prosperity, and all pupils should be taught essential aspects of the knowledge, methods, processes and uses of science.

Science at Livingstone
At Livingstone Primary and Nursery School, Science teaching is based upon the National Curriculum objectives. We provide children with a broad and balanced Science Curriculum which allows children to develop a sound understanding of basic scientific concepts through practical and investigative work. These learning experiences encourage children to develop their questioning skills and their knowledge and understanding of scientific vocabulary. Wherever possible, our extensive outside areas are used to develop the children’s understanding of the outside world and for environmental learning.
Curriculum Overview
British Science Week
To ensure that pupils are developing their working scientifically skills we carry out a Science week across the school. Pupils from our Early Years classes up to Year 6 all receive the opportunity to explore an investigative question, work with their peers and show case their outcomes to the rest of the school whilst enjoying their science learning.
