December Week 1
Friday 7th December
CHRISTMAS FAIR
The Christmas Fair was an outstanding success and we made an amazing £3,500. Thank you to all the pupils, parents, staff and friends of the school who helped and attended.
A big thank you goes to the PTA, especially Lina and Kerry and the team of helpers who work tremendously hard all year round and who organised such a wonderful event. It is due to their work and the generosity of supporters of Livingstone School that we are getting a new minibus for Christmas.

Thank you Father Christmas for coming to our school every year and bringing such lovely gifts!

This week children from KS2 have been practicing really hard on the Christmas songs. Their hard work paid off this week as they delivered an outstanding performance at the Barnet Spires over the balcony singing their hearts out! A huge thank you to all the parents and careers who came to support us. A big thank you also goes to Mrs Madejczyk, Ms Grant and Ms Tyler Brown who have been working with the choir all term and prepared them for a great performance at the Christmas Fair. Well done to all choir members!
Parent Rep Meetings
Parents asked about the new homework, marking and the meaning of the points.
In response to their requests, from January all pupils completing Brain Boosters Homework will get a certificate from the class teacher, evaluating the work, listing team points and rewards.
Here is a sample certificate.

Parents thought online club registration at 8 am clashed with coming to school.
In response, Mrs Kelly has moved Activity Clubs online registration to go live at 12 midday on 17th December.
Parents were concerned that books were not always being changed, so in January we are opening the library two mornings a week (Tuesday and Thursday) from 8:40 to 9:00 and Mrs Armstrong will be available to change books.
Some parents were not happy with the school photo and with the cost.
We try to get the best deal every year and consult with other schools to compare cost. photographs taken by a professional photographer are always going to be expensive even at a competitive price.
Some Parents are still unhappy with communication despite our best efforts to improve.
As a school we have to process vast amounts of information. Sometimes, these are subject to last minute changes that are out of our control. If mistakes are made, we will always try to put them right and work that little bit harder to make improvements.
If any parents need more information they should contact the office or speak to a member of their class teaching team. Don’t forget to keep telephone numbers and email addresses up to date via the office.
Parents have asked that pupils be allowed to change from school dinners to packed lunches on demand.
Due to advance ordering of food and the confusion changing on a daily basis can cause to some pupils, we have adopted a system that enables them to change on a half termly basis.
If you still have ideas or concerns, keep in touch with your class rep or make an appointment to speak to Mrs Phelan and remember we like to hear good news too!
Well done Year 3 and 4SB for their attandance

Football Results - Livingstone 2 - 4 St Johns
Despite the score, this was a very close match. St Johns played well but nothing matched the two goals by Livingstone. The first was a Ryley E free kick taken wide on the left that beat everyone and went straight in- amazing! The second was a team move of such intricacy that we were all mesmerised before Ryley O scored. Great play- worthy of the premiership!
Livingstone – Adam (Goalie) Baheer, JJ, Ryley E, Ryley O, Harry L and Isaiah. Once again ‘Thank you’ to Miss Fairley for organising the event and Mr Thomas for his now famous, inspirational team talks!
Christmas Themed Sports
On Tuesday 4th December, children from Years 1 and 2 attended a Christmas themed sports event at Allianz Park. These children were selected because they have been attending our ‘Active Club’ throughout the autumn term which is run by our sports apprentice, Sarah. At the event, the children took part in a wide variety of fun activities to inspire and engage children in sport.
