Christmas at Livingstone!

Livingstone are starting the Christmas Season with the wonderful Christmas Fair and an annual visit from Santa. Thank you to everyone who has contributed with their generosity of time and effort as well as all the amazing donations. More on this is to follow in next week's newsletter.

We hope that when you receive today's newsletter you will be with us enjoying the festivities of the event and don't forget, it's not too late to bring family and friends!

Football- Mixed League

On Tuesday, our mixed league played against Underhill. It was a close first half as it ended 1-1. As soon as the second half started, our team gave it 100% showing determination and great skill. The game ended 4-3 to us. Congratulations to Arber, Lois and Qamazarda for scoring two goals. We are very proud this year because our players have shown great team work and their team spirit has been brilliant Go, team! Well done to Aidan, Albion, Qamazarda, Jack, Alex, Zachary, Xander, Lois and Arbel.

Netball

On Wednesday, we played against St.Catherines. As soon as the whistle blew, our team knew they had focus on marking and defending as the other team were very quick. The children were fantastic at finding/creating space to give them opportunities to pass and shoot. It was a fantastic game with high energy. Livingstone won the game with a score of 5-0! Well done to Qamazarda, Albion, Geethesri, Catherine, Lois, Jack and Orpita.

Nursery

This week in the Nursery we have made a big batch of salt dough! Here, Muhammadamin has rolled out some dough and he is using a Christmas tree cutter to make a decoration for the tree. Well done, Muhammadamin, you concentrated well on this activity!

Royce has also helped make the salt dough today and now he is rolling out some dough to cut out his Christmas shapes. Well done, Royce! You used all of the cooking tools very safely!

Kingfisher Nursery

A busy week for everyone in Kingfisher Nursery. As winter approaches we have been developing our mark making using festive pictures of animals. The children have been working on tracing the letters in their name and numbers to 10. They have been excited about the Christmas fair and the visit from Santa. Festive songs have begun to be learnt and the story of the nativity introduced.

Reception

This week we have learnt more about space! We have been doing lots of roleplay in the 'Space Station', making our own space buggies in the outside area and even creating our own constellation pictures. Great work Reception.

Please use the green sounds books to practice your children's sounds with them. Your children should know what group they are in but you can always ask Miss Purse if you need to :)

Year 1

Year 1 continue to explore 3D shapes in Maths. Please try and find examples of cubes, cylinders, spheres and cuboids in your houses. We are starting our Computing topic on Algorithms, and the children have enjoyed figuring out how to write a specific set of instructions to complete a task. Well done on a great week!

Our first acheivement awards this week goes to Iliana for always being kind and helpful. Our second achievement award goes to Filip for his excellent algorithm for getting ready for school.

Year 2

In English, we wrote our narratives about, 'Lost and Found'. The children's writing was fantastic. They all used a range of adjectives, conjunctions and have developed some lovely story telling language.

We have finished learning about shapes in Maths and we will be starting multiplication next week.

In Science, we have been learning about recycling materials and why this is good for the environment.

Don't forget that we are going to High Barnet Spires on Wednesday 7th to sing Christmas songs to support Cherry Lodge Cancer Care. Please bring in the permission slip and you are welcome to come along and watch :)

Achievement awards this week go to Kigen for his fabulous story telling language and Zachias for his math work and trying to reason more.

Kingfisher 1

This week we have been looking at the story 'If I had a Dragon' in our English lessons, and it turned out that having a dragon is less fun than it sounds! The children did some excellent writing on the subject.

In Maths we were learning all about time and why it is so important. The children enjoyed a variety of activities and deepened their understanding.

Year 3

This week in Year 3, we have been writing and editing our narratives based on Stone Age Boy. In Maths, we have been learning about multiples of 5 and 10 along with grouping and sharing. The children have also been completing their end of term assessments. We have been very hardworking dancers, actors and singers while preparing for our Christmas show, I'm Gonna Shine.

Year 4

This week in Year 4, we have been completing our end of term assessments. The children have all worked exceptionally hard and have made excellent progress of the course of this term. Mrs Craddock and I are proud of them all and they should be proud of themselves too!

In Art, we have been looking at mosaics and have now finished designing, creating and evaluating our final products. The children have absolutely loved it; it's been great to see the enthusiasm and passion for art. Next up, D&T

This week's achievement awards go to Evgenia and Elia for their brilliant work in reading. Well done!

Year 5

This week, the children have been learning how to order and compare fractions by converting them into the same denominator.

In English, they practised the grammar they'll be using in their persuasive writing next week, including colons, subordinating conjunctions and powerful adjectives and adverbs.

In Computing, they worked in pairs to write algorithms using Scratch. They had to write a code for telling jokes and debug it so that the avatars took turns speaking.

Achievement Awards!

This week's awards go to Muhammad for his progress in Maths, and to Ruby for her positive attitude to learning.

Year 6

Year 6 have really impressed us with their positive attitudes during their assessments and have made good progress so we are very proud of them.

They have also finished their night lights, we were impressed with their end results and how they helped each other to troubleshoot any problems they had in their coding or in their circuit. Well done, Year 6.

Kingfisher 2

This week the boys have been working hard to complete their assessments and have been continuing to learn about 3-D shapes. We used various resources to physically make the shapes and counted the faces, edges and vertices.

Mario has been producing some great independent work and doing really well with his reading.

Calvin always produces neat and careful work and did a fab job making his 3-D shapes independently.
