Pupils Newsletter No. 3
February Week 1
Friday 2nd February
Our school is delighted to say that we are officially outstanding in our Ofsted report. This exciting news has come consecutively after recent inspections, which occurred on the 13th and 14th of December. The assessors were very impressed with the pupils' behaviour, achievements and hard work when learning. Ofsted were dazzled by our unique school; how we include everyone within kingfisher and the immense effort teachers put in to educate their pupils to the greatest extent.
We are all extremely proud of our school!!!

Proud Parents or Petrified Pupils?
Parent consultations is the day that all children dread!
What are the teachers going to tell the parents? Are we going to be in trouble? Are they going to tell them about the one time we got a yellow card?
Sadly, the children don't know what the teachers are going to say until it is done! We always try our best but no one is perfect.
The date of the consultations are Tuesday 6th, Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th of February. Please sign up if haven't done already.

Year 6 RAF Museum Trip
The year 6s reported that they loved the trip and the planes- which they found very fascinating since they were part of British history. They took a tour and had an amazing instructor during the workshop. The year 6s learnt to make a compass using coding and computing. They also experimented with their quick reactions to things as this was an important quality for a pilot in WW2 to have. Halfway through the trip, they enjoyed a well-deserved lunch, after listening carefully to intriguing facts in the war. In addition to this, there were many fun activities (such as drawing war badges). Curiously, the inside of the planes weren't as impressive as the exterior and they were full of cables and buttons.

Year 4 Natural History Museum
On the 18th of January, Year 4 went to the Natural History Museum. They went in the volcanoes and earthquake exhibits. During the trip, children had a questionnaire that they had to answer during their visit. Intriguingly, they learnt about tectonic plates, fault lines and tsunamis. The year 4s went in the earthquake simulator that everybody loved and also learnt where volcanoes are generally located. Everyone had a lot of fun - apart from Mr Sudbury, who had to eat out of vending machines because he forgot his lunch box.
Thank you to all the teachers who went to the Museum- we are extremely grateful!

Last week, Year 3 had a workshop on the ancient Egyptians and someone came in called Mr Egypt. Everyone had fun activities to do and learnt lots of interesting facts about hieroglyphics and their pyramids. Year 3 loved turning their classmates into mummies.
Great learning!

Cultural Capital Assemblies.
Recently, we learned about the Taj Mahal in assembly. It was made for a king's dead wife so he could honour her. It took 22 years to build it and more than 20,000 men from India were involved. It is located in Dharmapuri and it's colour is purely white. The building is made from marble and red sandstone because they are precious stones. Later they built another replica of it but purely in black to represent the king. However the king was overthrown by his son and therefore the replica of the Taj Mahal was never built. The Taj Mahal is one of the ancient wonders of the world. It was destroyed by the air pollution of smoke from a refinery. We have also learnt about the other wonders of the world such as the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Wall of China.

Year 5 working hard on their history!
In Year 5,the pupils have been learning about the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons!
They have been creating timelines and learning about Viking Longships. They used Digimaps to find areas ending with the suffixes -ness,-keld, by(bee) -thorpe ,-thwaite -toft -kirk. Year 5 have also been comparing Viking and Anglo-Saxon homes with Mayan homes to see the difference in interior and how they have evolved in different ways such as using different materials to build the structures.
Have a lovely weekend.., SKOL

Livingstone vs St Catherine's Netball Competition
When Livingstone's netball team went against St Catherine's, we unfortunately lost 3-2, but they all played exceptionally well. In the first two halves, Bianca and Joshua (both in year 6) each scored 1. Most of the members of staff were there to support us and they were all so proud.

KF2 Boccia Tournament
On the 23rd of January KF2 went to Burnt Oak Leisure Centre to participate in a Boccia tournament. Approximately 20 teams from different schools participated and were great- along with Livingstone. The children who represented Livingstone were George, Calvin, Jacob, Dilan, Andreas and Mario (who all were amazing). George, Andreas and Mario got into the semi-finals, awarded with bronze meddles as they were 3rd place. All of KF2 did fantastic and we'd like to thank Mrs Sudbury and Miss Stevens as they accompanied KF2 on their trip.

Year 4 go swimming!
Y4 have been going swimming at the Barnet leisure centre for 2 weeks. They have done incredibly well and hve improved so much! Some children have learnt how to swim whilst others have practiced more and have gotten better at different strokes. They should be extremely proud of themselves. Well done Y4 and to the teachers who had taken time out of their day to take them.

Year 6 Netball Tournament Finalists
This week, Year 6 took part in a Netball tournament. In total, we played four games (we won 3 and drew one) and then we had to wait for the results whether they got through to the next round or not. Surprisingly, we got to the semi-finals which was against St Catherines. It was a very tense game and we had to go to sudden death which meant that the next goal will get you through to the next round. Thankfully, Emily scored and we got through to the finals and everyone was so happy we all started cheering. In the finals, we went against Martins. It was a very tough match as they had scored alot of goals in this game. In the end, we sadly lost 3-0. Thankfully, we got a silver medal. The participants were: Joshua, Sophia, Chloe, Sienna, Arbel, Emily and Brychan.
