January Week 1

Friday 6th January

Welcome back and Happy New Year to everyone!

The ICT Suite will be open to all parents/carers at 8.45am and 3.00pm on Friday 20th January to look at our Virtual Learning Environment, this will also include information on Mathletics and Bug Club.  You will have a chance to use the programs and see how many resources are available for your child/ren to access via home computers.  We will also be able to give advice on e-safety.  Please complete the form below if you would like to attend and expand the potential for your child/ren to learn via the internet!  If you sign up we can arrange for one child to be with you.

Punctuality is vital to ensure that pupils come into school settled and ready to start learning. Lateness can have a very detrimental effect on the start of the day and the first lesson, so please try to get your child/ren into school on time every day. If children arrive late, please register your child at the school office. We will be recording the number of lates on your child’s report.

This is the time of the year when we are mostly likely to have snowfalls. The school will remain open when it snows unless there are severe weather conditions which prevent us from doing so.  Parents will be informed by text message early in the morning, before 8 o’clock, if the school is closed and there will be a message on the school website.  The school will only be closed in exceptional circumstances so if you have not received a message that means the school is open. Please let the office know your correct phone number if you have recently changed it to ensure that you can be contacted in times of emergency.

We currently have a lot of children who have not returned library books –some have been booked out since the beginning of September!  Can we remind everyone that library books need to be returned promptly.  If books are still outstanding a letter will be sent home as a reminder and a second letter will follow asking for payment.  Please help your child look for lost books and return them to school and please encourage your child to take responsibility for returning their books so that our wonderful books are available for everyone to enjoy.

Our British Value of the term is 'respect' and these children have been commended for being especially respectful around the school: Kai (1), Aiden (2G), Maya (2E), Kamyar (3BP), Ryley (3R), Sophia (4), Fabiano (5) and Esjena (6).  Well done!
