Everyone is welcome to come along and spectate. Children in nursery will participate in one race at the beginning of the morning and afternoon sports day session.

Tag Rugby Match

Our tag rugby team played their fourth league fixture on Wednesday against Ashmole Primary School. The players have demonstrated outstanding determination to improve. Their excellent communication is evident on the pitch as well their impressive skill and strength throughout the match. While our opponents played with energy and resilience, our team’s hard work truly paid off, resulting in a well-deserved 9–2 victory. Well done to Nadine, Muthara, Elsie, Anwen, Charlotte, Zainab, Anastasia, Albeiro, Eren and Lewis.

If one game wasn't enough for our players, they had their fifth match on Friday against Akiva. You will find out next week what happened!

Our tag rugby players don't get much rest as they are going on to represent Barnet at the Tag Rugby London Youth Games on Wednesday 11th June. Wish our players luck! Come on, Livingstone!

QUESTIONS FROM KINGFISHER

In preparation for the children in Kingfishers transition into the next year, when will the children be meeting their new teacher and seeing their new classroom?

The teachers are currently in the process of sorting this out to ensure the children have a smooth transition next year. On the 17th of July all the children will find out their new class teachers and have a chance to see their new classroom.

There will also be a list of teachers and TAs issued at the same time as the end of year reports.

SPORTS DAY

Information regarding sports day will be in today’s newsletter.

SCHOOL DINNERS

Why have the school chosen to add the safe option of the cheese sandwich to the lunch time menu?

Yes, the cheese sandwich is a safe option and is very popular. It adds an extra option for vegetarians, who don’t always have the extra choice, and we also have many autistic children who like the plain option. It has been a big success, as there hasn’t been any waste from leftovers.

Lunch time at school is about making sure all the children have eaten something, and the cheese sandwich seems to help those that may struggle with the lunch time menu.

The school does offer opportunities to for all the children to make and try lots of different foods throughout their learning at Livingstone school.

ARBOR

We are all trying to get to grips with the new system and there have been a few teething problems along the way.

Booking clubs seems to be the main one that everyone is talking about.

You must have enough funds on your account to pay for the clubs when you book.

We will put the amount by the club information so you can see before you book.

On the rare occasion, your child is attending a club and there is a clash with another school event, please speak with Mrs. Kelly about a credit for that session.

YEAR 6 SHOW

Could we ask parents not to film the year 6 show and rely on the school recording. It would be nice for the kids to perform to the parents and not a row of phones.

In an ideal world this would be great, however it is a lot of pressure to rely on the school's recording to capture every child’s moment.

Parents like to zoom in on their child’s performance to send to parents who can’t attend. Filming will be allowed as long as it isn’t shared on social media and is for your personal record of that day.

FINALLY

Thank you to Kate Figgis for her minute keeping throughout all our parent representative meetings and standing as Parent Rep all through her children's time here at Livingstone.

Scooters & Bike Theft

Please remember to take you bikes and scooter home after school, especially at the weekends and school holidays. Leaving these items in school creates opportunities for theft.

Many thanks

Mr Sudbury

Nursery and KFE

This week, we embarked on an exciting journey into farm life! We've been exploring the bustling world of farms, delving into the daily routines of farmers, and discovering where many of our everyday foods originate. Our discussions were around the various animals that live on farms and the essential roles farmers play each day. The children have shown great enthusiasm in identifying different farm animals.

In our Maths sessions, we've been focusing on recognising numbers up to 5 and 10. The children practised counting animals, ensuring one-to-one correspondence.

Creativity was in full swing as the children crafted various farm animals using paper plates. Our phonics journey continued with the introduction of the sounds 'o' for orange and 'g' for girl.

Once the rain stopped today, we managed to release our butterflies! We got to see them flying away and some of us even held them in their hands before they flew off.

We are thrilled about our upcoming trip to the Lewis of London Ice Cream Farm on Tuesday! The children will enter Moo-land and enjoy making pretend ice creams, riding mini tractors and enjoy a delicious ice cream. Please ensure all consent is give on Arbor promptly.

Have a great weekend!

Reception

Reception have had a good first week back talking all things past, present and future. We have been reminiscing about their time as a class so far and talking about how much we have changed and learnt since September. We have started showing our baby pictures and will be continuing this topic so please email them to Mrs Mills or bring in your 3 photos (a baby, a toddler and recent). This topic will support your children in their transition to Year 1 which we are beginning to discuss. Over the next few weeks, the children will visit their new playground, their new teacher and learn more about the exciting things that are coming for them in the future.

Year 1

Welcome back to our final half-term in Year 1. The children enjoyed learning about the holy books belonging to different religions. They also listened and responded to two famous Biblical stories – Creation and Noah and the Flood. In Maths, we used positional language to describe turns and the placement of objects. We read Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs in our English lessons and the pupils are busy writing their own versions of this story. Our Phonics Screening Check is next week, so please keep practicing your sounds and reading your books.

Our first achievement award goes to Murat for his hard work and excellent progress in phonics. Our second achievement award goes to Roman for being an active participant in all of our R.E. lessons. Well done you two!

Year 2

We are learning how to tell the time to the nearest 15 minutes. We have used analogue clocks to show o'clock, half past and quarter past as well as writing the time shown on different analogue clocks. In English, we read Class Three All at Sea. We participated in role-play to act out the story and created our own pirates to describe using adjectives. In Science, we are continuing to learn about plants. We looked at what plants need to grow and survive, and we are conducting an investigation to find out what happens to plants if you take away one of their needs for growth away. We have also started Art. We mixed different primary and secondary colours to experiment with colour making.

Homework

Maths- pages 97 and 98

The best way to learn how to tell the time is through practising. Please use your analogue clocks at home to recognise o'clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to.

This week's awards go to Naz for her positive attitude towards all of our subjects and her incredible work ethic and to Denat for always doing the right thing and being a role model for his peers.

Kingfisher 1

Maths

In Maths this week, we explored place value by looking at how many tens and ones are in a given number. The children used Dienes blocks (Base 10 equipment) to help them recognise numbers and understand how they are structured. We focused on counting on from ten rather than starting from one each time—an important step in developing mental maths skills and number fluency.

English

In English, we read The Tiger Who Came to Tea. The children loved the story and used Colourful Semantics to help them retell the events in order, using key sentence structures to support their speaking and writing.

To bring the story to life, we even had our very own tea party —just like in the book! It was a wonderful opportunity to build on the children’s imagination, sequencing, and language skills while having lots of fun.

This week's award goes to Stylianos for improvement in his work.

Year 3

Welcome back Year 3. This week in Maths the children have been learning to tell the time to the exact minute. The best way to learn how to tell the time is through practising. Please use your analogue clocks at home.

We started our D&T unit by analysing different bag designs and practising our sewing techniques. In English we have started to read the first few chapters our core text - Leonora Bolt: Secret Inventor. We are enjoying the story so far and have been developing our inference skills to understand the characters' motives and make predictions.

In History, we are learning about the Tudors – specifically events using the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. They looked at the Tudor family tree, exploration and trade, and defeating the Spanish Armada.

Reminder: for the trip on Monday, they'll need a packed lunch, weather-appropriate clothing and spending money (optional and their responsibility).

Year 6

This week in Year 6, we’ve been busy preparing for our end- of-year production, Oliver! The children applied for their chosen roles and auditioned in front of the class, showcasing their fantastic talents. Roles have now been allocated, and the hard work starts next week as we begin learning lines and preparing for what promises to be the show of the year!

We also enjoyed a brilliant trip to Chessington World of Adventures to celebrate a year of hard work. Remarkably, we managed to avoid the rain and even went on every ride more than once - though, unfortunately, we weren’t quite as lucky with the traffic on the M25! Both children and adults had a wonderful time. A big thank you to Mrs Armstrong, Diane and Mrs Church for taking us!

This week's achievement award goes to Mr Boucon and Diane for driving Year 6 to Chessington....nearly 5 hours and in the rain!

Kingfisher 2

This week in Maths we have been learning about multiplication and division and have used different methods to calculate.

In English, we have started looking at diaries in preparation for our writing next week. We have also been practising using conjunctions.

We had a fabulous trip to Hertfordshire zoo. The children were incredibly well behaved and enjoyed seeing all the animals and dinosaurs!

This week's award goes to all of Kingfisher 2 for an excellent trip. Well done!
