March Week 1
Friday 09th March
Attendance & Punctuality
Parents / carers may have noticed that we have changed our procedures in the morning. There is now a member of the SMT recording the pupils that are late. It is now the expectation that if a pupil is late then they must be accompanied by an adult. The adult must explain why they are late.
Road Safety
- Find the safest place to cross with a clear view of all around, away from parked cars, junctions, bends or the brow of a hill if possible.
- Holding hands with your child, show them how to stop on the kerb, look all around and listen for traffic before they cross. First explain that they must stop at the kerb and not step into the road as traffic might be coming very fast. Then they must look all around because traffic could come from any direction and they should listen because sometimes you can hear traffic before you see it.
- When it is safe, walk straight across (not diagonally) and keep looking and listening. DO NOT RUN. Tell your child they must do this in case there is any traffic they did not see, or in case traffic appears suddenly.
Keeping safe - Stranger Danger
Please advise your children -
- never go anywhere with a stranger
- never get in a car with a stranger
- never go off on your own without telling your parents or a trusted adult
- tell your child it is okay to break the rules if they are in danger
- encourage your child to YELL, KICK, SCREAM, LIE or RUN AWAY, if they feel they are in danger
- Find a trusted adult or a trusted shop and speak to a member of staff as soon as possible.
Book week - Reception and Nursery
As part of book week Reception and Nursery were very lucky to have Dante's ‘Nonna’ (Grandmother), Carol Brigati, in class to read to them during book week. She is a children's author and read one of her fabulous stories, Dante and the Little Owl. Both Reception and Nursery enjoyed the story and look forward to welcoming Carol again in the future.
