May Week 1

GK9_cT06NiVfUD

Friday 5th May

Today the pupils will be bringing home their wonderful, decorated pots. In honour of King Charles's love of gardening and the environment, the pupils have planted seeds, which we hope will grow over the spring and summer as a reminder of this very special occasion.

After singing God Save the King so beautifully, everyone had a lovely afternoon at the street party themed lunch and enjoyed eating the fantastic buffet made by Tracy and Ellie in the Kitchen, followed by lots of dancing, singing and games.

We hope all our families celebrating have a wonderful weekend.

Congratulations to His Majesty!

Bikes & Scooters

Please make sure all bikes and scooters are taken home at the end of the school day and not left overnight or in the holidays. Bikes and scooters left on the premises could lead to trespassers and theft. The school can not be held responsible If they are left on the premises.

We have been imagining ourselves as Kings and Queens and celebrating by making decorations and having tea parties!

Sienna - for her lovely writing.

Year 1

Year 1 have been inspired by Vincent Van Gogh this week in our art lessons. We've created our own drawings and paintings by looking closely at a variety of flowers and plants and really thinking about the shapes we could see, the thick layers of colours as well as the mood we wanted to create. Have a look at some of our pieces.

In Maths, we focused on doubling and are working very hard reviewing all of the Set 3 sounds in phonics in preparation for our screening test next month. Enjoy your long weekend!

The first achievement award this week goes to Sami for his enthusiasm and progress in phonics. The second achievement award goes to Daniel for his brilliant Vincent Van Gogh inspired sunflower picture.

Year 2

In honour of King Charles' Coronation, we decided to write King Charles a letter in our English lessons to congratulate him. The children had lots of interesting questions to ask him and as the letters are so thoughtful, we decided to share them and send them off to the Palace. Hopefully, we will get a response!

In Maths, we have been practising our arithmetic skills and answering word problems.

The children have let their creativity flow this week as we created our plant inspired art. They are truly stunning!

Year 6

Year 6 have continued to impress us this week as they have revised and prepped for next week.

Please take advantage of free Breakfast Club from Tuesday- Friday and Morning Yoga from Tuesday-Thursday next week, if possible. We have found in previous years that it helps the children begin the day in a calm, positive and focussed manner. Year 6's Breakfast Club will be in Bluebirds which they can access through the Kingfisher playground from 8am. If your child isn't attending breakfast, they can still come to Yoga at 8:30am in the Main Hall. Please ensure your child is in school by 8:45am, at the latest, for the week as the tests will begin at 9am.

On Friday (12th May), we will be going to Trent Park for the day once the last test has been completed (hooray). Please, ensure your child has suitable clothing and footwear as we will be walking and a packed lunch with drinks.

Well done to Jack, for speaking confidently and demonstrating a good understanding of world issues during his Speech and Language session and George for acting with maturity and successfully participating in the bread making sessions with Year 5.

Tag Rugby Fixture

On Thursday, we played our first and last match in the Tag Rugby Fixture League. We were in a small pool this year with just two teams but sadly Underhill were not able to participate so we had just one game against St. Johns N11.

The children have been practising all year with Mr Boucon and they were eager to get out on the field and play. All of their hard efforts paid off as we won 10-4!

We progress straight into the Barnet Borough Final!

Well don to Geethesri, Zachary, Albion, Alex, Qamazarda, Lois, Catherine, Hattie and Matteo.

Mr Sudbury Does It Again!

The amazing Mr Sudbury has beaten our Health and Safety score at the last SHAW audit by achieving a top score of 97% with the support of Mrs Phelan and Mr Madle.

We have a small list of tasks to complete, and the rest of the changes are out of our hands and with the Local Authority to improve upon.

Thank you for a brilliant job, top marks and 9.999999 out 10!
