Christmas Fair - Year Group Fundraising Stalls

This year, we’re adding a festive new feature to our Christmas Fair:

Each year group from Nursery to Year 6 is requested to host a fundraising stall.

We’re inviting a team of parents/carers from each class to work with their Parent Reps to run a class stall.

Stall Responsibilities involve:

  • Preparing the stall leading up to the event
  • Setting up the stall the night before or on the day
  • Running the stall during the fair
  • Clearing up afterwards

The class will have complete responsibilty to manage the stall from start to finish.

Classes are asked to run one of the following:

  • Popcorn / Cake Stall
  • Bottle Tombola
  • Chocolate / Sweet Tombola
  • Toy Tombola
  • Toy Stall
  • Face Painting, Tattoo & Nail Bar

The school will be organising:

  • Food & Drink Stall
  • Father Christmas Grotto
  • Main School Raffle
  • Gift Stall
  • Bid-Up Auction

Alternatively, if you have a great idea for a stall, speak with your Class Rep and the PTA Chairs and have this as your class stall.

All proceeds will go towards supporting the school, and this is a fantastic opportunity to get creative, collaborate, and contribute to a joyful community event.

Without your help we may not have sufficient numbers of stalls to make the event successful!

Parent Rep Meeting Minutes - Part 2

KS2 & KF2               10th October 2025

YEAR 3 - School Council Reps - Trip

Q: Last year’s school reps were expecting a trip at the end of term e.g. previous trip to RSPCA, did this take place?

A: There was no trip last year, the timetable was very busy and it wasn’t possible to arrange this. In previous years, visiting the RSPCA presented some challenges due to their restrictions, so we are not keen to repeat this. We may consider a trip to the Council Chambers. We will review and arrange a trip for this year’s group, location TBC.

YEAR 4 -The Gate

Q: The gate seems to be opening later at pick up and everyone is rushing through to pick up and then you cannot get out of the gate with your child because people are still coming in. Could the gate be opened earlier to avoid this?

A: We are trying to get the balance right. If we open the gates too early, and children see their parents/carers waiting for them, this can be distracting. We will ensure gates are open to allow everyone to collect their children in good time.

YEAR 6 -Meetings & Parent/Carer Attendance

Q: If meetings are during working hours could there be a dial in? There is sometimes pressure to join but not much flexibility for those who work.

A: We try our best to be accommodating and understand that meetings during school hours are not always convenient for everyone. However, we need to do what works for the majority of parents and carers. If you are unable to attend an important meeting e.g. PGL discussions, please make an appointment to speak to the class Teacher separately. Recordings of meeting are not feasible currently.

Q: Just a note… thank you to Mr B & Mrs C for settling the children into y6 so well.

KINGFISHER -Sports Day

Q: Lovely event, can we consider how to make this easier for all the children who are not in the winning team and may become distressed as a result? For example, a ā€˜taking part’ prize for all? Or could each team win a different prize e.g. fastest, best teamwork, most creative, loudest cheering etc?

A: We will review this and discuss how we could make the event more inclusive.

More information to follow in the next newsletter.

Nursery

This week in Nursery, we have been learning all about fireworks and Bonfire Night! The children created lots of beautiful artwork, mixing colours to make sparkling night skies, and enjoyed singing songs about Bonfire Night.

Our core story for this week and next is Whatever Next!. We’ve been talking about space, the moon, the sun and the planets, learning all about astronauts and space rockets. Using 3D shapes, the children have been busy designing and building their own rockets, then comparing their heights to see whose rocket is the tallest!

We’ve also been exploring pumpkins and learning about their life cycle. The children have enjoyed measuring and comparing the weight of different pumpkins.

With Autumn in full swing, the leaves are falling fast! The children have been fantastic helpers, working together to keep our playground clear of fallen leaves.

On Wednesday, we enjoyed our first Chickenshed workshop for the project ā€œNew Botanics: Growing Together.ā€ This is a five-week interactive programme where we’ll be exploring nature through creative play, movement, music, and signing.

Over the next few weeks, the children will be learning about the seasons, planting and growing, water, and the creatures that live in and around water. The sessions are designed to be active and playful, giving the children plenty of opportunities to move, copy, and explore while having lots of fun together.

Talking Homework

This week’s talking homework is a Shape Hunt!

Go on a shape hunt around your home and see what shapes you can find. Can you spot any circles, triangles, squares, or rectangles?

Talk about what you find together e.g. what shape is the clock? What shape are the windows or doors? You could even draw or take photos of the shapes you discover!

Kingfisher Early Years and Bluebirds

This week Kingfisher Early Years and Bluebirds have been enjoying lots of fun fireworks activities. We have painted using different tools to create different effects. We have coloured and chalked and even used yogurt and bread.

This weeks text is 'Whatever Next' a fun journey to the moon. We used this to explore the theme of space and journeys.

This week we have started a new sensory story in Bluebirds: Room on the Broom. The children have enjoyed looking for the items that get blown away in the wind.

Reception

Reception have had a fun filled and fantastic first week back learning about the celebrations of Bonfire night. We have enjoyed making firework art, making and recognising shapes to make rockets and have been drawing and writing sounds and words to match pictures of things we see around this time of year. We were so lucky to have Mr Sudbury show us what sparklers are like and learnt about firework safety. We are nearly finished learning all set 1 sounds and will be ready to go off into groups to learn phonics next week. Please continue to practice daily and read the assessment in your child's reading diary. Next Wednesday we are welcoming parents and carers in to see how phonics is taught at school, see how you can support them at home and join in the fun during a session. We hope to see as many of you as possible.

Year 1

Year 1 have returned to school fabulously! In Maths, we have been adding one-digit numbers using concrete resources and drawing pictorial representations to work out different sums. We are continuing with the Read Write Inc. scheme in phonics. Our new Science topic is all about the seasons, focusing on the change from autumn to winter. We went on a local walk to discuss what we saw and even explored why days are shorter in autumn and winter. Speaking of winter, it is nearly time for our Christmas Show! On the VLE, I have uploaded the songs the children will be singing. You can find them under the Y1 class page in ā€˜Files’. Their passwords are stuck in the back of their reading diaries. I will also be handing out the lyrics next week.

Sporting Fixtures

et3dCfI6xWAJ4x

Football and netball fixtures have now started after everyone trained so hard during Autumn.

Our girls’ football team played against Cromer Road in a fantastic game for the Central Cup. Everyone showed great teamwork and determination. We were 2–0 up at half-time and kept up the energy throughout. The opposing team played well, but we held our lead to win 5–0. A big well done to Elsie, who scored four goals, and Dotty, who scored one. Well done to Ryann, Xhizela, Amelia, Anwen, Soroiyan, Dotty, Elsie, Daniella and Holly. The next round for the Cup will be in January.

Our netball team played their very first game against Danegrove this week and what a start it was! After just 15 seconds, we scored our first goal which really impressed everyone watching. The team worked beautifully together, showing great synchronisation and accurate passing throughout the match. They stayed close to their opposing players and never lost focus. Despite Danegrove’s defensive skills, we came away with an amazing 9–0 win. Well done to Soroiyan, Daniella, Kevin, Lukas, Skye, Elsie and Anwen.

Use of Playground Equipment

Reminder to All Parents/Carers

Please ensure that children do not use the playground equipment after school during pick-up times. This is to help prevent accidents and avoid damage to equipment that may be left out overnight.

Additionally, no balls should be taken out of the boxes and used on the playground at the end of the school day.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school environment safe and respectful for everyone.
