October Week 1
Friday 7th October
The PTA AGM Meeting – was really well attended this week but unfortunately they were unable to elect a Chairspearson or a Deputy. Without filling these positions events like the Monsters Ball and the Winter Fair will not be able to go ahead as we need parents to organise and run them. We do want to say that there was a very keen group of parents that attended the meeting and it was great to see them. There is an opportunity to have an informal chat and a hot drink at the MacMillian Coffee morning next Friday. Please come along with your ideas.
Mrs Church - we would like to thank Mrs Church for her dedication to the PTA. She has worked tirelessly to organise events such as the Camp Night, quizzes, the summer fairs and lots of discos. These events have enabled our children to benefit from many new experiences and extra curriculur activities. We have also managed to buy many resources for the school such as the school minibus and playground equipment.
MacMillian Coffee Morning – is an event to raise money for the MacMillain cancer charity on Friday 14th October in the Dining Hall. Please bring your cake donations on Thursday 13th. We look forward to seeing a record number of parents attending.
Harvest Festival – a wonderful assembly performed by the Year 4 children! They showed all their hard work they have completed in class including drama, acrostic poems and harvest posters. We especially liked Shivani as Mrs Phelan and Nicholas as Mr Madle (we are worried about our jobs!). Thank you for all the kind donations, we think that is the most we have ever collected. The goods were donated to the charity ‘Friend in Need’.
The Tempest workshop - On Thursday afternoon, Year 6 enjoyed an adaptation of The Tempest, a play by William Shakespeare, which was prepared by Ellie, a lady from the Young Shakespeare Company. It involved drama, in which the whole class participated by playing many characters. It was an amazing experience. By Lily B and Aarish (Y6)
Tag Rugby - we entered two teams into the annual Saracens tag rugby festival. The children displayed lots of brilliant skills and an excellent attitude. Congratulations to Terri-Ann, Maddy, Bradniel, Billy, Jack C, Harvey, Pau, Parsa, Todd and Daniel A. The second team worked extremely hard and managed to win all of their matches. Congratulations to – Danny, Ugur, Jerom, Harvey T, Elijah, Orestis, Esjena, Brooke, Correl and Christiana.
This term’s British Value – Democracy
Democracy is when everybody gets a fair choice and a chance to be heard through voting. At Livingstone School, we provide a democratic environment. For instance, at film club the children have a vote on what movie they watch. Also we provide an opportunity for children to vote for their school council representatives. The one boy and girl will represent their class in a respectful manor and will show appropriate behaviour towards adults and visitors. Our school has school council members from Year 1 to Year 6 who supply ideas to improve the school. Written by Christiana and Aarshan (Y6)
