February Week 2

Friday 14th February

World War 2 Workshops supports our Curriculum!

Lately, 6B and 6S had a World War 2 workshop. An expert came in from the Imperial War Museum a showed us a short film about a Jewish boy called Leo who lives in Berlin, Germany. The character Leo is not real but the events and experiences are a mix of memories that the Jews went through. We also got to look at some pictures and artefacts from the museum. Lastly, everyone got to go onto the Ipads and read some more examples of Jewish experiences. By Kiera 6B

On Monday, Year 3 had a workshop about their topic: Ancient Egypt. For the whole day Year 3 did fun activities based on Egypt and even got to try some special Egyptian bread! The activities include: mummy wrapping (wrapping each other up with toilet paper), Egyptian dancing and also learnt a little bit about some of Egypt’s famous pharaohs- Cleopatra and Tutankhamen. One of the Year 3 children -Hattie- said that she really enjoyed Egyptian day because of their fun teacher, Mr Egypt. By Mariella 6B

Annually, we have an Interhouse Dodgeball competition where the children are put in their colour house teams. The rules of Dodgeball  are:

  • You are allowed to go past the cones
  • If your opponent catches the ball when you throw then you are out.
  • If the ball bounces and it hits you you are not out
  • If the ball hit you anywhere between your feet and your shoulders you are out but if it hits your head you are not out.

After they have played all their matches, the winning house colours will play a final. Whichever colour house wins, will have a trophy with their colour ribbon on. We will await results! Advay 5S

Year 5/6 Football beat Whitings Hill!

On 5th February 2020, Livingstone Boys’ Football Team won 2-1 to Whitings Hill, who arrived at Livingstone around 3pm. At first, it was 1 nil to the other team, but then Jordan scored to make it 1-1. 5 minutes into second half, Harry scored to make it 2-1. Then they were on the ball but Samy intercepted it and he passed it to Harry who then played it to Ryley. He then had a shot but sadly the keeper pushed it out, and Samy took a shot but, unfortunately, the goalkeeper also saved it. In the last minute, of the game Whitings Hill had a shot 5yds away from the goal but Adam saved it with his right foot. Well done! Keep up with the good work!

Reception ‘Read with Me’

Parents and Carers are invited into the school to read with their Reception child/children. This happens weekly from Wednesday 8:50am to 9:10am. Reception read with me is a fantastic opportunity for children to boost their confidence towards reading and helps them understand a piece of text more. If you have a child/children in reception, I highly recommend coming as we are really lucky to have this in our school. By Jim 6B

Year 5 Maths

This week in Maths, Year Five have been learning how to add improper and mixed number fractions.

They also had to simplify the answer to the clearest form it could go down to- without forgetting a very important rule- whatever you do to the denominator, you have to do it to the numerator. We have all used practical resources to help us and we know a lot more now about fractions. By Lillie S

The teams consisted of: Adam, Leo, Daisy, Maria, Scarlett, Sammie (Team 1, to the left) and Naomi, Karolina, David, Arez, Mahek, Mahi and Maisie (Team 2, to the right). Each team played 5 matches in the group stage. Unfortunately, despite all our efforts neither team got through to the second round although out of 24 teams only 4 went through.
