COVID 19 Update and School Closure
Friday8th January
First I would like to thank everyone involved in the re- opening of Livingstone to our vulnerable pupils and children of key workers. Also, to all the teachers and support staff who have set up online learning to ensure all pupils have access to the best quality learning under the current circumstances.
Education is still compulsory and given the unrelenting nature of the lockdown, it is important that pupils access the work according to the timetable provided. We understand that there needs to be flexible approach with the younger pupils, however, I would like to remind parents/carers to log into zoom twice a day as these sessions provide the support required for child/ren to follow the comprehensive online educational programme of study created by their class teachers.
Pupils and parents/carers can communicate directly with the class teachers via Teams or the VLE for questions relating to the lessons or they should email or telephone the office for other issues connected to school.
Places have now been allocated to our key worker and vulnerable pupils, however if your circumstances change and you meet the criteria issued by the government with regard to key worker status, additional places are available. We must reiterate however that due to the ever changing situation regarding the rise in positive tests, pupils should be kept at home if at all possible. If we unfortunately get a case within the school classes may have to close.
If your child is ill or showing symptoms please can you support the school by keeping them at home. Under normal circumstances we would encourage pupils to maintain their attendance, however under the current circumstances even a minor cold can cause anxiety, especially if it spreads to other pupils and members of staff.
Finally, if we do have a positive COVID case in school and there has been contact with other pupils or staff, parents/carers will be contacted directly and given the advice based on information from the Barnet Health Team.
