Year 6 are leaving!

As most of you already know, there are less than two weeks left of school. For many Y6s this will be a hard time, as it is their last weeks in Livingstone, where they have shared jokes and laughs, fun times and not-so-fun times. After the summer holidays, all of our Y6s will be starting secondary school. It's going to be tough leaving friends behind and choosing a new path, straying to where no-ones been before. It feels like taking a deep breath and just jumping off the deep end of a swimming pool.

But we all know that our Y6s are brave, resilient and will fight for what they want. They'll be turning a new page, into a new chapter of their lives. They'll all be overwhelmed with emotions, but you have to remember all the years you've spent here, learning and laughing all the way.

So, start afresh with a smile and positive thoughts because your path in life is yours to take, yours to decide! Go out there and show them how amazing you are!

Yr 6 Production filming

As you may know, at Livingstone Primary School, every Y6 class puts on their best performances towards the end of the academic year, this is called" Year 6 End Of Year Show". Usually, this event is held in the main hall, where parents are invited to attend the production; this year, things are a little different.

Due to the pandemic, parents are restricted on attending school performances and assemblies. This means we have to capture these valuable moments virtually, for eager parents who are keen on feasting their eyes on the presentation. Thanks to Kate and Arlen - the directors and official filmers of all three shows- for making this all happen. This considerate couple were kind enough to film all of the shows this year for free, including the Christmas show by Y5, all three end of year shows by year 6 and many more. They were also responsible for taking many pictures (Arlen being a professional cameraman) of the children during filming! Once again, big thanks to both Kate and Arlen!

We are really lucky to be able to have the amazing opportunity to still perform our end of year shows, despite the tough two year we've had. Many other schools are not able to have a Y6 show, but we somehow were fortunate enough to accomplish such a thing. As you may know, this is the last pupil voice newsletter of the year, meaning my last one to write. But fortunately, you guys will have another set of beautiful writers to replace us!

Three year six shows:

6S - Annie

6B - Hercules

Maths More Able Competition

This year, some children in Year 6 were given the opportunity to complete a Junior Maths Challenge also known as JMC where thousands of children complete in the UK. It was a one hour test filled with 25 mind- boggling questions. Some kids qualified to the next round to the Junior Kangaroo . Everyone was proud performing to their utmost of abilities and achieved brilliant results and got well-deserved certificates . Well done !

Advay and Adya completed a Yr 8 Maths paper and were in the top 25% in the whole country. That is quite and achievement!

KS1 and KS2 Dance Days

Last week on the 6th July (a Tuesday), KS1 had Dance Day! They worked really hard on their dances. The dances they did were amazing but unfortunately they didn't video them doing 'Scottish Reel' but I'm sure it was great. They did 5 dances: Scottish Reel, Polka, Jazz, Bollywood and Salsa. On the 8th (a Thursday) KS2 had their n Dance Day. They worked so hard on these dances and they were great! They had various dances: Samba, Hopka and Haka. Each class presented a dance.

All the classes were great and it was wonderful that the whole school got to come together for the first time 2 years for an assembly.

Thank you sooooo much Miss Papas for organising the whole event.

Yr 6 Swimming Lessons

Even though the school year is coming to an end, the Year 6s got given the amazing opportunity to have swimming lessons at the New Barnet Leisure Centre for 45 minutes, everyday for 2 weeks! This gives the pupils a chance to learn new techniques, maintain an important skill they can use in the future and stay healthy! So, what are your thoughts about the swimming?

Staff Leaving this Summer

Miss Lax - Miss Lax is currently teaching 6L but many other pupils have been privileged to have been taught by her. Sadly, she is now leaving the school to teach in reception at another primary school.

Mrs Britton - Not only has Mrs Britton taught countless students throughout the years, but people have been lucky to witness her musical talents as well. After many years of teaching she is taking a well-deserved retirement break.

Mrs Duggan - Mrs Duggan, a teacher who is right now in year 1, has helped many of us with our work and friendships. She has also taught challenge club as well. Livingstone will all miss her.

Miss Taborda - She has worked tirelessly in Kingfisher Nursery. She is going to do teacher training at an SEN school. Good luck!

Mrs Tibbs - Mrs Tibbs has been working in kingfisher for a while and is now unfortunately moving to a different school. Good luck!

Mrs Cripps - Mrs Cripps, who has been in Livingstone for years now, works in the dining hall and keeps everyone safe and happy. Everyone is sad that she now is leaving.

Mrs Depala - has been a Kingfisher 2 TA for many years is going off to learn how to be a Secondary School Maths Teacher. Good luck with the algebra!

Pete the Coach - Pete has taught almost everyone in the school various sports, and we have learnt a load of things from him that will help us in the future. Due to this Livingstone school is upset to know that he is now leaving. We will all miss him dearly!

Final message for the Summer

Our time at Livingstone has been incredible and it has provided us with so many opportunities that have made us realise how fortunate we are to be able to have experienced them.

Reception: First days can be very scary, especially when you don't know the school or other people very well. Our class teachers were so supportive and welcoming and that makes such a difference when joining a new school. Throughout the year, they encouraged us to learn and most importantly be respectful of our other classmates. Also... we all remember the chicken dance!

Year 1: As we moved up a year, the work began to get a bit more difficult, however, each unit was broken down into separate lessons which made it easier for us to learn. We also got to go to the model village and it was a fantastic experience for everyone. The way the structures had been built and copied were very clever.

Year 2: As you probably know, Year 2 is the time when we have our first SATs test. Everything was explained so clearly and with a lot of detail, therefore, when we came to do it we were all proud of ourselves for what we had done. Another amazing experience we had in that year was Clacton Beach. We all got to spend time playing games, going to the aquarium and we even got to eat ice-cream!

Year 3: Year 3 was the time to perform our Christmas show. The teachers worked very hard to produce an incredible performance. It took a lot of patience but it ended up becoming something that we were all proud of.

Year 4: Camp night in year 4 was great! It prepared us to have more independence and learn how to look after ourselves when staying the night at school without our parents.

Year 5: Our teachers were absolutely incredible when it came to home learning. They supported us the whole way and provided us with plenty of activities to do. They kept checking in with us to make sure we were okay and that made a big difference to the lock-down.

Year 6: Our final year at Livingstone has been full of ups and downs. We experienced lock-down again but we overcame it and we came back stronger and more independent. Once again, we can't thank the teachers enough for how much they helped us during the pandemic. We also got to take part in many activities at PGL and that taught us that we are capable of more than we think. We got to stay away from home and challenge ourselves every single day!

The teachers and children at this school are the best and they really encouraged us to be who we are today. Thank you for everything you have done for us.

Summer Fair

Every year, The Livingstone Family organises a summer fair for all the children. This year, the PTA set up a stalls which included a plethora of items: sweets, jewellery, toys, balloon figurines, popcorn and a game where there were 3 coconuts and you had to knock them down and you'd get a little prize. They also had a fantastic bouncy-climb and slide (this was incredibly popular with all years) and a bouncy castle. Despite Year 6 being at Trent Park for most of the day, they still had plenty of energy to do both of the activities. To attend the fun- filled summer fair, a £5 charge was needed to attend the activities but with the payment you also got a little goody bag which included a number of different sweets.

Overall, It was an event filled with fun and joy- even the weather was on our side (for once)!

Thank you to the PTA for organising the event!

Boys and girls football vs Foulds

On Tuesday 15th June Y6 girls and boys football teams played two matches against Foulds school.

We were all extremely excited and couldn’t wait to play: this was our first match since Y5!

We hadn’t trained at school for ages so we weren’t sure how we would do but with lots of hard work beforehand, and extra training with Mr T, both teams played really well with great attacking and defending!

The boys faced a tough start with Foulds scoring early. Despite rallying well, the boys were unable to score against a well organised Foulds team.

Well done to the boys team: Adon, Aiden, Kalo, Nathan, CJ, Kal-el, Arbri and Taif!

Despite our star striker Hailey getting injured early on, the girls team played really well and won 2-1. Eleni and Scarlett scored our two AMAZING goals but it wouldn’t have been possible without great team work and cooperation from the whole team!

Well done to Eleni, Scarlett, Lillie, Grace, Mia, Sammie, Phoebe, Gabriela and Hailey!

Boys and girls football vs Moss Hall

You might have already heard about the football match at Moss Hall from your child who may have been playing, but we want to make sure that you and your child or children got the correct information. These four matches proceeded at Moss Hall on Tuesday 6th of July 2021. First of all, I would like to introduce you to the 4 teams:

First girl team: Sammie (played in mid), Grace( played in strike), Mia ( played in goal), Phoebe (played in defence) and Maisie (played in mid)

First boy team: Tyler (mid ), Adon (mid ), Arbri ( defencez ), Hunker (defence ), Geenuka ( played in goal )and CJ (played in strike)

Second girl team: Hailey (played in strike), Scarlett (played in mid), Lillie ( played in defence), Eleni (played in defence) and Gabriela (played in goal)

Second boy team: Kal-el ( played in strike), Jacob (played in defence), Aiden (played in defence), Pedro ( played in goal ) and Jordan ( played in mid)

Each game was 20 minutes with 10 minute halves. Within the first half, the first girls' team was up one-nil to Livingstone, and kept that title through to the next half, making the final score 1-0 to Livingstone. However, for the second girls' team, we weren't lucky enough to score within the first half, but with 2 minutes to spare in the second half we scored making it 1-0 to us We kept it that way till the end of the match now with Livingstone winning two games. I will tell you what happened to the boys matches. for the first boy's team within the first half it was 2-0 to moss hall but then in the second half we they were able to score but they needed two more goals to beat moss hall and unfortunately we just rain out of time so they left with moss hall winning 2-1. Now for the second boys team. Within the first half, the second boys' team was able to score 3 goals! Can you believe it? That title was held to the end of the match, leaving them with a grin on the boys faces to having won 3-0 to Moss Hall.

Our lucky scores were:

For the first girls team it was Grace that scored the banger right into the corner of the goal. Moving through to the first boys team, it was Tyler with an impressive shot swooping the ball right into that net. For the second girls team it was Scarlett that scored a top bins: the goal keeper just could not save. For the second boys team it was Kal-el and Jorden both scored with the most amazing goals .

I hope that the news of those impressive goals and the hard working team put a smile on your face but of course it would not of been possible with out Mr Madle, Mr Thomas and the lovely Miss Fairley to train us and arrange matches with Moss Hall, so thank you a lot for all your hard work! To all of our footballers, I hope you carry on with your football through to secondary!

Have a lovely day!

Yr 1 and KF2 went to Paradise Park

Yr 1 and Kingfisher arrived at the zoo, and split into groups to explore. The groups rotated as these children continued on their adventure through the zoo. They looked at a wide choice of unique animals, this included white lions, red pandas penguins and others. After, they met and had their lunch. Once they finished they went to the gift shop.

Their favourite part was the dinosaur trial where they enjoyed their dino-tastic time. After, all this they were all tired so they returned back to our fabulous school.

Sports Days Achievement

Last week, sports day was held on the school field, where everyone got to compete in the activities the school gave us. Due to Coronavirus, sports day was a little bit different this year. The various year groups were provided with certain days to do the sports. It was nice to be able to see both Y6 and Y5 participate in the sports as we all had to use team work in order to win. Everyone competed in their individual teams ( red, yellow, green and blue) and tried their best to make their team proud. We did activities such as a obstacle race, sprinting and tug of war, which was super fun to watch and take part in!

Year4 Music Festival

As you may know, Year 4 have done their Music Festival - how exciting! It has been a hard time learning the dances for Year 4 but they persevered and performed it amazingly. Hopefully they are proud of their dancing because I'm sure you are! Parents weren't allowed to see their children dance, so the teachers had to film the students dancing.A big thanks to Miss Papas for organising such a wonderful day!

Kingfisher Visit Soft Play

This Thursday, Kingfisher had the wonderful experience to be able to visit a soft play in Oakwood. With Covid restrictions easing, it was made possible to visit and have a wonderful time.

Reception Aldenham Farm Trip

Reception got to visit Alderham park on Tuesday as an end-of-year trip. They had a great time at the farm seeing exotic animals and even got to feed them. They went to the farm by the minibus, which was driven by Mr Sudbury, and spent the whole day there watching the piglets, rabbits, guinea pigs and a beautiful peacock.

They then had ice-cream since it was boiling hot that day, and got to play in a playground after having their packed-lunches. Well done to Reception for being so sensible on their trip and working so hard this year! Also, thank you to Milo and Renee for helping us write this amazing newsletter. Please carry on reading-

Y2 Trip to Southend

Year 2 have worked very hard this year, especially during the lock-downs, and have enjoyed a well-earned trip to the beach in Southend. They were lucky enough to visit the sandy beach last Monday and enjoy the beautiful view of the sea with their teachers, while playing in the sand under the sun. They had to social-distance from everyone else at the beach in order to stay safe, but had great fun all the same! Year 2 have evidently enjoyed themselves a lot and look forward to Year 3, finally entering KS2.

Meeting your New Teache

So, meeting your new teacher can be quite scary, but you don’t need to worry! If you don’t like your new teacher (which you obviously will) then it will take some time getting used to them but here are some tips:

1. Always be kind even if you don’t want to be.

2. Be happy. Never be sad if you don’t like your teacher.

3. Always try your best! Your teacher will not be cross with you if you do!

4. Have some fun! You will feel much better if you play with a friend.

So there are my tips: if you're nervous about starting a new year in a different class, don't worry. Everything will be ok!
