March Week 2

Friday 17th March

Science Week – 6-10 March 2017

We had a fantastic Science Week last week all about Animals and Birds of the World.  On Monday and Tuesday, Zoolab presented workshops for all year groups and introduced us to a range of exciting animals including snakes, lizards, cockroaches, snails, crabs, scorpions – and even a black rat!  The children were encouraged to gently handle all of these animals and learn about their distinct features and ecology.

On Friday Falconry UK provided a whole day of workshops about exciting birds of prey Species included an African White-Faced Scops Owl – who even laid an egg during the session - a Blue-Winged Kookaburra, a Raven, a Verreaux Milky Eagle Owl, a Pygmy Falcon and the rare Tawny Frogmouth Owl.   It was fantastic to see the children (and staff!) so excited and intrigued to meet these wonderful creatures and learn how they have adapted to survive in their environment.

Both Zoolab and Falconry UK commented on the excellent behaviour of the children and their willingness to learn and praised the warm welcome of the school. Thank you to both organisations for coming long distances to meet with us – and also to the Governors who gave up their time to join us throughout the day.

Pupils performed their Dance Festival routine in front of the school on Tuesday. Our theme this year was based on Multicultural London and such was the quality of the performance put on by the pupils that we were asked to open the show. Well done to all the year 6 pupils who performed –they were spectacular! Our thanks go to our dance teacher Lauren, Diane and Miss Breen and who helped with the costumes and the final preparations. Parents wishing to buy a copy of the DVD will need to place an order with the office by Friday 24th March.

Comic Relief-Red Nose Day

This year we are holding a Cake sale and selling a Livingstone Joke Book. Every pupil will be asked to bring in a ‘Knock, Knock’ Joke, riddle or limerick before next Wednesday.
