Rememberance Day Assembly

Thank you to everyone who has donated to the Poppy Appeal this week.

Our assembly this week was themed around this event and we held a minute silence to remember all the fallen soldiers.

If you would like your child/ren to join in with the Livingstone pupils taking part in the Wreath-Laying Ceremony at the East Barnet War Memorial, please bring them (in full uniform) to the British Legion Club, next to Aldi, by 10:15am so they can join the procession with our other Livingstone pupils.

Mixed League Football Match

Football season has begun!

We had our first game in the mixed league on Wednesday against Trent Primary School. From the very beginning, it was evident that our players were determined to give their best, both on and off the field. It was their first match as a team and we are extremely proud of how they well they played. Our team demonstrated teamwork and perseverance when the other school scored and towards the end of the game Xander scored a great goal ending the game 5-1 to Trent. Although we didn't win, the children put in tremendous effort, showcasing their sportsmanship throughout the game.

Well done to Stefi, Oliver, Sotirio, Muhammad, Joshua, Xander, Arbel, Dante and Brychan.

Girls Football Central Cup

This is the first year that the Girls Central Cup has been introduced. Our first game in the knock-out competition was against Alma Primary School on Thursday. Everyone at football club has worked incredibly hard and this was evident on the pitch. The girls were so in sync with one another on the pitch showcasing excellent teamwork and skill. As soon as the whistle blew, the girls gave it everything and this helped our girls take the lead. Arbel scored an incredible 5 goals and Elsie made her debut on the team and scored a goal too. Incredibly, our players won the game 6-1!

Well done to Bianca, Sienna-Rose, Elsie, Arbel, Anastasia T, Diya, Jaime, Leah and Fatemah.

Nursery and Kingfisher Nursery

Another week of fun and great learning in Nursery and Kingfisher Nursery!

We talked about fireworks, bonfire night and read many books about space as well as the story 'Whatever Next?' by Jill Murphy about a teddy going to the Moon.

We created rockets and made amazing vehicles using everyday materials.

We also had a visit from this week's 'Mystery Reader', Mr Madle! He came as very thirsty tiger who came to tea!

Reception

We have had a great week in Reception - despite all the rain! At the start of the week, we enjoyed learning about fireworks/ sparklers and how to be safe when using them. We went on a walk to the pond area to collect sticks and red and orange leaves. We then made our own ‘bonfires’ in the playground. We have also been learning lots of vocabulary and read the story ‘Peppa's First Fireworks’ for Drawing Club. The children enjoyed drawing Peppa Pig and made their own firework pictures using coloured chalk and black paper.

We have also been learning about shapes and have been creating artwork using circles, inspired by the artist Kandinsky.

This week in phonics, we have learned the sounds 'j' 'v' and 'y'. Please practise them using your green sounds book. Have a lovely weekend, everyone!

Year 1

This week Year 1 continued to focus on subtraction in Maths. We learnt how to use a number line and part-whole model to show our subtraction calculations. These concepts should be revised in our weekly homework. We are learning our special friends in Set 2 and 3 phonics lessons, and trying our best to use 'Fred in the Head'. The children should practise reading their Read Write Inc books for 10 minutes each day so that by the third read, they can read more fluently with a story-teller voice.

In History, we were so lucky to have Naz's grandma come into school to talk to us about how her childhood was similar and different to ours. We look forward to Science next week.

We took part in another scientific investigation this week where we compared the strength of materials and observed how stretchy they were.

On Tuesday, we took part in the Barnet Music Festival where we sang songs with Trent and Cromer Road. It was a lovely afternoon and it was a great expereince for the children to perform in front of others. We were very proud of how beautiful they sounded. Well done, Year 2!

The singing continues though! We are now learning songs for the Christmas Show. You can practise at home on the VLE. On the Year 2 community, you can find the songs in the file section.

This week in maths, we've been reviewing addition, subtraction, and times tables. We also learned how to use the multiplication symbol in mathematical statements. We explored arrays of objects, practiced grouping, and sharing, and introduced the division symbol, making connections between multiplication and division. It's been a productive week!

Today, the pupils also began participating in a series of workshops provided by the Chicken Shed Theatre Company where they will be gathering and presenting ideas about how they would like the world to change for the better.

These workshops have consistently been a source of enjoyment and learning for our children, and we're looking forward to another enriching experience.

Attendance

Our attendance this week is 93%.

We have dipped below the expected minimum. This is due to a few pupils being unwell with a viral cough or sickness bug.
