October Week 2

Friday 14th October

Congratulations to our newly elected Livingstone School Council. We were so impressed this year with the hard work the children put into their campaigns and speeches. Already, we have had our first meeting and the children were eager, dedicated and full of ideas. We look forward to the year ahead and the changes that we can make together.

Black History Month - October is the month when we celebrate Black History in order to raise pupils’ awareness for the past and present achievements of black people. This week was packed with fun activities and creative learning. Our Black History project was inspired by Dr Martin Luther King’s inspirational speech ‘I have a dream’ and the children created mind-blowing poetry, speeches and artwork sharing their own dreams about the world, our community and our school.   On Thursday all children had the chance to participate in an African storytelling and dance workshop where they listened to stories about African tribes and leaned how to dance to the beat of the African drum.

On Friday, a special rewards assembly was held in order for the children to present their fabulous Black History work to the whole school.

DB Primary - Over the last week parents/carers may have noticed a trial that we have trialling a VLE which enables  pupils access to homework and activities on their computers. Attached is a leaflet which sets out information about Livingstone’s Primary Learning Cloud. As you can see the access is carefully monitored and pupils have had sessions at school to ensure that they use the internet safely and responsibly. Please read the leaflet and feel free to visit the ICT suite next week for more information and a chance to trial the session. The suite will be open on Monday from 8.45 onwards and everyone is welcome

Club letters have been sent home today and there is a small change in the booking process. For your information:
