September Week 2

8iFQAbQCHHFpsN

Friday 17th September

This week we have welcomed our second group of new Reception pupils, some more Nursery children and all their families to the Livingstone community. We are pleased that they are all well on their way to settling into their new routines. Parents/carers may still be looking for guidance especially if new to the school. Please do not hesitate to ask the teaching team and the office staff questions who will be happy to help.

Catch-Up and Challenge

t7uiWA1AxZxKlp

We are very pleased to announce that following on from the assessments, we will be re-launching challenge and catch-up sessions starting with pupils in upper KS2.

Additional teaching and support staff are being allocated and timetables created to ensure all pupils reach the highest possible standards and make progress in their learning. Some lessons involve specialist and additional members of staff working with the pupils and some will take place in small groups before and after school. Look out for letters that are being sent out and please respond promptly.

Parent Representatives

m8bircukiBfwt2

Soon we will be holding our first parent representative meeting of the year.

The parent reps are there for any quick questions other parent/carers may have when it is not always possible to contact the school directly. Look out for them at school drop off points in the playground.

Our Reps are closely linked to the PTA and they will canvass for opinions as well as asking for support for the PTA.

They are all volunteers and united in wanting the best for Livingstone and the whole community which make up the school. For those reasons, please may I remind all parents/ carers that the Reps are not there to be moaned at and the Parent WhatsApp group, is not a sounding board for complaints or for negative comments. There are proper channels to voice concerns and these should be addressed via the school office and to the headteacher.

Your parent reps are:

Vacancy - Nursery

Laura Blackaller - Rec

Ellen Patmore - Year 1

Melissa Gosling - Year 2

Kate Orr – Year 3

Lina Cavozzi – Year 4

Shelley Farmer - Year 4 and Kingfisher

Paula Falco - Year 5

Nina Kornhouser – Year 6

Being on Time

Arriving late at school can be very disruptive for your child because it makes them feel awkward, especially when the lesson has to stop for them to enter. Children who are regularly late can never recover certain essential parts of their school day such as: settling down to get ready to learn, the lesson’s introduction, important announcements, discussions, questions, explanations and the thinking that makes learning come alive and gets them ready for the rest of the day. Please be in the playground from 8:40am to make sure you are in class from 8:45am.

End of the School Day

As COVID has not gone away, please be aware that some of our pupils are still very vulnerable and try to be thoughtful to all members of our community when you are leaving the school and allow them room to come into / out of the school safely.

Dogs

We all love dogs but just a reminder that we cannot have any dogs on the school grounds.

We have been playing with the farm animals outside. Irsa carefully counted the pigs in the pigsty! She counted independently all the way to five, with good one-to-one correspondence. Good counting, Irsa!
