April Week 3

70th Anniversary Celebrations - School

Day Timetable

Friday 19th April

On Friday 17th May the pupils will be performing songs and dances for the 70th Anniversary. However, due to limited space, and in order to allow as many people as possible to come, the pupils will be giving two performances.

Parents and carers will need tickets for the morning and afternoon assemblies as we need to manage numbers in the hall, but anyone can come to the midday performance as this is taking place outside, as part of the family picnic.

Children will be singing and performing songs relating to a specific decade, starting with the 1950s when the school was opened, and they will be asked to come in clothes reflecting that decade - more information will follow next week. In addition to this, throughout the day, pupils will be timetabled to do activities such as going on bouncy castles, making kites ....

Timetable

9.00 -9.30 am Assembly - Nursery AM and KS2 performing (parents/Carers of these pupils can apply to office for tickets)

12.00 pm Family Picnic - school open to all families to join us for lunch

1.30 pm Assembly - Whole school performing together in the playground (all parents/carers welcome - no ticket required)

2.30 -3.00 pm Assembly - Nursery pm, Reception and KS1 performing (parents/Carers of these pupils can apply to office for tickets)

A picnic lunch will be provided for Reception to Year 6. Please contact the school office by Friday 10th May if your child normally has a packed lunch but you would like them to have a school picnic lunch (no charge). Parents/Carers are welcome to bring a picnic and stay from 12pm onwards.

Parents/carers of Nursery pupils can join them at 11:30am to eat packed lunches.

Only Parents/Carers with tickets can attend the indoor performances.

70th Anniversary Celebrations - Evening

Tickets are now on sale on School Money or via the school office. The tickets are priced at £7.00 each and include a drink on entry. This is an over 18s event with a bar serving drinks and small selection of bar food. We have a live band playing covers and a disco and the theme is based on music through the decades, so please come dressed in the style of your favourite era.

Doors open at 7pm and the event finishes at Midnight.

Accessing Teams and Passwords

Oja1APCBjEYmtQ

Pupils experiencing difficulties logging into Teams in the holidays were affected by changes made by LGFL.

Pupils with a password shorter than 8 characters now have to add hastag/s to make it longer.

If your password is 8 or nine characters long such as 12345678 or 123456789, you are ok - but if your password is 1234567 or 12345, you have to change it to 1234567# or 123456##.

Please contact the office or the class teacher if your experience further problems.

Fruit Snack

LcrOvrwk7IUDL7

This is the first week of fruit snack for all the pupils and many pupils have taken up the offer.

Please check with your child if they are in KS2 and find out if they have been choosing to have fruit. If your child is taking fruit everyday, we would appreciate a donation towards the cost as it will make it more likely that we can continue this next academic year. We are asking for £6 for the whole term and this works out to a subsidised cost of less than 10p per day.

Nursery and Kingfisher Nursery

What an exciting first week back we have had in Nursery and Kingfisher Nursery! We have been focusing on Eric Carle's 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' and we have been counting the fruit, learning the days of the week and looking at different insects, including our very own CATERPILLARS! We are going to be observing their life cycle over the next few weeks and will watch them transform into colourful butterflies. We have been retelling the stories pretending to be the caterpillar who makes a cocoon before its metamorphosis.

In Maths, we have been looking at repeated patterns and symmetry on butterfly wings.

On Thursday, we went on a nature walk to Hadley Wood, where we collected various plants, saw ducks, geese and butterflies around Jack's Lake and sang the song 'Five Little Ducks' to the ducks which had gathered there!

HOME LEARNING TASK: Draw or paint a caterpillar or a butterfly. What colours do you need? What different parts do you need for to draw it? Talk to an adult about your picture and describe what you have done.

Reception have had a fantastic first week back. We are continuing to learn about life cycles and have enjoyed watching our caterpillars grow!
