Despite the mix up with the Book Character Day, Livingstone Book Week went very well. We started with pupils taking part in a World Record attempt for the most children doing a book quiz and ended with a giant book swap in the dining hall. A display of all the ‘Extreme Reading Challenge’ photos is now up in the hall, so please ask in the office if you would dlike to see the unusual places where pupils and teachers have been reading. And finally if you would like to, please send your child/ren in as a book character next Thursday! We are rearranging the Yr2 visit to the Synagogue and are waiting for a new date to be confirmed later in March.

Year 5 went to the Power League Finals, a remarkable achievement in itself and played extremely well. The team won one, drew two and lost one game in the last minute against other top level teams. The children not only performed well, but showed great attitude and sportsmanship. The squad was Bobby, Daniel B, Harvey T, Jerom, Pau, Ugur, Aaron and Harvey Y (Y4). Well done to the team and thank you to, Mr Ephgrave, Mr Sudbury and everyone who supported the teams.

We are collecting Sainsbury’s Vouchers to buy sport equipment for the school. Last year we spent an amazing £500 of vouchers on gymnastic equipment so please if you do shop there please remember to collect and bring them in.

Due to the number of events in the school calendar the ‘Read with me’ Assemblies which usually happen at the end of each term have been brought forward. The books are given to pupils to reward effort and inspire a life-long love of books. All the pupils get the books in EYFS and KS1 as there are many opportunities to for pupils to read in this Key Stage however by Key Stage 2 more of the responsibility for managing reading is given to the pupils.   At the Assembly there will be an explanation of how reading is taught throughout the school and this will be followed up by an information leaflet which will go home with all the parents. Come along, see what we do and choose a book with your child/ren.
