February Week 3

Friday 24th February

Questionnaires will be given out to parents this half term to get feedback on how the school is performing and how we can improve things. The aim is to give one parent form to each family and the first forms will be distributed at the ‘Read with Me’ sessions. Please read the form carefully and use the notes for guidance, complete it as soon as possible and return to the class or to the office collection box.

Reminder World Book Week: 27th February – 3rd March – Focus Non-Fiction

The ‘Extreme Reading Challenge’: the pupils need to be photographed reading a book in an unusual place and a copy brought into school.

Tuesday 28th February
Pupils need to bring in their favourite book to share with their class. They will be writing reviews for our library.
Wednesday 1st March
Pupils need to bring in an unwanted book – in good condition – for a book swap.
Thursday 2nd March
Pupils need to dress up as a real person for our non-fiction focus (please see separate letter for inspiration.) There will be prizes for the best-dressed pupils in each class.

On Wednesday 22nd, pupils from Year 5 and Year 6 attended a session of robotics at East Barnet School. We programmed Lego robots to drive around a course, used a robotic arm to throw a ball into a goal and retreat back to the starting point. Thanks to Mrs Britton for arranging it for us. (By Aarshan Y6)
On Thursday, our Year 5 and 6 netball team played a competitive match against Danegrove. Although Danegrove had many tall competitors, we managed to beat them 5-0 with goals scored by Christiana, Pau, Tilly and Daniel A. Thank for you to Miss Kwan and Mrs Church for their training and support - not to mention Miss Finn who stayed out with us and yelled into the gushing winds. Congratulations to the whole team. (By Christiana Y6)

Livingstone lions played very well which got them through to the quarter finals. They won their quarter final game but unfortunately lost in the semi-finals. In the 3rd and 4th playoff game, we beat Churchill and finished in 3rd overall. They earned themselves bronze medals.

The other team was called Livingstone bears played against very tough teams and didn’t manage to get out of their group. Well done to Charlie, Kacper, Mohammad, Artin, Robert, Luke and Baheer (Livingstone Lions) and to Bailey, JJ, Kenan, Gehan, Shyam, Daniel and Ariya (Livingstone Bears)

Mathsletics -problems on tablet devices are usually caused by one of the following issues:

Mathletics is currently only available via the app on tablet devices. In order to run the program fully, 2GB of space is required. If there are a lot of photos or apps stored on the tablet, it might be worth deleting some of these in order to ensure the program has enough memory to load fully.

Occasionally the Mathletics student app can be corrupted if there is a break in the internet connection when it is downloaded. Where this is the case, the easiest way to resolve the problem is to delete the app, reboot the device, the download it again.

Please bring your donations for the Mother's Day stall and payment/signed slips for the Spring Ball (correct money please) to the school office at 8.50am Monday to Thursday next week. A member of the PTA team will be there to accept your donations and payments.
Please also let them know if you would like to help out on the day of the Spring Ball on Friday 3rd March or the Mothers Day stall on Thursday 23rd March.
