May Week 3

Friday 19th May

We had very positive feedback from parents who came to our taster days this week.  Everyone who participated were able to enjoy the high standard of meals prepared by our fabulous kitchen team – Jo Varney and Tracey Tate.  Please remember to keep packed lunches healthy and keep our school nut free which means no Nutella.

On Tuesday we had our now well-established visit by trainee teaching assistants from Holland. A group visits every year to see the school and to get an insight of how schools operate in the UK. They loved the grounds.

Information on upcoming SEND events such as, Barnet SENDIASS and Barnardo’s free workshop for parents/carers on Transfer Reviews (May 22nd 10am-12pm) can be accessed online through the Barnet Local Offer. Click on the link to find out more.

We have added new Goosebumps books with money made at the book sale at the end of last term. Thank you to parents who made purchases. Also, more comics are being ordered at the request of the pupils.

Stone Age workshop

On Friday  19th May, all the children from KS1 and KS2 took part in workshops designed to teach them about the Stone Age. The aim of today’s workshops were to teach our children about this very important part of the history curriculum, through reenactments and drama.

In their workshops the children performed and role played historical re-enactments of how Stone Age people lived their lives. The groups were given different parts of everyday Stone Age life to retell, such as; making fur clothes, hunting, lighting camp fires, skinning animals and building shelters. All the children were really engaged with their activities especially when depicting how Stone Age people hunted and skinned animals.
