May Week 3

Friday 17th May

Well done to everyone in Year 6 for working so hard and successfully completing their SATs!

Mrs Speed and Mrs Armstrong can take a well-earned breather before preparations for their show begins.

Livingstone vs Whitings Hill 16.05.19

Well, where to begin. Our girls’ football team have had a phenomenal football season.  They have won many matches making us the winner of our league and putting us in the final. On Thursday, we had a fantastic support network and the atmosphere was electric. On the pitch, the girls were incredibly strong and determined.  The opposing team were also skilful and it was an even game, not knowing who would come out on top. With only minutes to go, sadly, Whitings Hill managed to score a goal. Leaving the score 1-0 to them. Even though we did not win this game, you are winners to us. Well done to Roxy, Naomi, Sarah, Darina, Daisy, Zoe, Isabella, Karolina, Sophia and any other girl who has played competitively over the whole season.

Livingstone are now live on Twitter- where you can find the latest news and achievements. You can follow us: @livingstoneEN4

Family Picnic – Livingstone Founders Day

All parents/ carers are invited to our family picnic on 24th May – Livingstone Founders Day. The theme of the day is the outdoor classroom.

A picnic lunch will be provided for all pupils who have school dinners and parents can bring their own picnic lunch to have on the field.

The day is themed on the outside classroom so pupils should wear or bring in their PE kit as they will be doing physical activities most of the day.

Parent Representation Meeting

Parents asked - Are pupils allowed to go to the toilet during lesson time?

Response: The children have many opportunities to go to the toilet during breaks and lunch time and they are reminded by the staff to do so. Children are allowed to go in class time if they are really desperate but the school would like to keep it to break time so the children don’t miss out on their lessons. Parents should speak to the teachers if they have any problems.

Some parents have asked for a lunch time homework club.

Response: The new home work structure is going to be reviewed at the end of the school year to see what works. It is felt that the children also need fresh air and time away from the classroom. The current homework system leaves plenty of time for this to be completed at home.

Some parents have mentioned the bottle neck at the school gate at the end of the day can become a little congested with children coming out and parents coming in.

This is difficult to police so a little patience is needed.

Kingfisher parents are concerned about the cuts that are being made and how this will affect their children.

Mrs Phelan is involved in the consultation and as soon as she knows more she will inform the parents.

It has been suggested that it would be a nice idea to have a coffee morning for the new Reception parents who will be joining us in September. This will allow them to ask questions and get to know the school.

Year 1 parents would like to say a big thank you for a lovely afternoon painting pots and planting things for Mother’s Day

Everyone agrees that we had the best assembly with Mr Mitchell last week!

What a wonderful inspiration. Thank you MC Grammar.

Parents are to be reminded that we have a library day for parents and children on Tuesdays and Thursdays 8.40am - 9am to read together and choose books.

A note is to be sent home if a library book isn’t returned so that parents know why pupils were not permitted to take a new book and parents can help look for it at home.
