May Week 3

Friday 15th May

Dear Parents/Carers,

I am that sure many of you will have watched the Prime Minister speaking on Sunday evening saying that it may be possible to have a phased re-opening of schools from 1st June, starting with pupils in nurseries, reception, year one and year six.

The safety of everyone in the school community is paramount.  We all want to get more pupils back into school.  However, I do want to stress that our first priority has to be the health and well-being of all our children, families and our staff.

So, if we are able to open some classes on this date, it is extremely unlikely that school will look anything like it did before lockdown.  Social distancing is difficult for many of our children and especially the youngest.  People are still advised to minimize their social contact. This is likely to have a significant impact on the number of adults available to work in our school and therefore the number of children in school at any one time will/may need to be much reduced. This means that we have much planning (including maintaining our virtual learning), risk assessments and safeguarding issues to work through before we can open the school safely.

Next week we will be sending you more information as things become clearer to us and we receive further guidance from central government, the DfE and the Local Authority.

Food parcels will be available to families eligible for Free School Meals on Monday and they will be ready for collection from 12 onwards on.

In the meantime please ensure that your children continue to keep up with their school work and remember to upload or send in completed work from the learning grids, including the amazing pictures re-creating famous artwork!

Parents/carers who need hard copies of the work can arrange to collect worksheets from the school office. If you need a member of staff to contact you, please send an email office@livingstone.barnetmail.net or leave a message and you will be contacted as soon as possible.

 ‘Be Alert!’
