Please be aware there have been some changes as outlined in the timetable below as part of the school's transition into the next academic year.

As part of the transition, we are closing our after-school clubs to Year 6. Instead, we are offering Year 6 pupils the opportunity to be a Sports Club Assistant with the responsibility of assisting our coaches in preparing the younger pupils for the teams of the future. We are offering Dance Club to Reception pupils as part of the transition. Parents/Carers, places are limited, and bookings are taken on a first come first served basis.

70th Birthday Celebrations

Hooray! On the 17th of May, Livingstone celebrated an exceedingly special day: our school's 70th birthday; this jovial day is full of fun-filled activities: disco and a band (adults only), bouncy castle, family picnic, three entertaining assemblies and much more. Exuberantly, we hosted an entertaining family picnic at 1:15pm and welcomed everyone who came along to celebrate this substantial day with us. The assemblies were based on the current era and prior era's music to celebrate the different times Livingstone was around for. The disco and band is going to be a very dynamic event, which will be held between the intervening times of 7pm and 12am.

This is one of the most significant commemorations in Livingstone's history as it only ever happens every 10 years!

Emily yr6 :)

PS Look out for the Livingstone Tree of Life Keyring to commemorate 70 years in your child's bag!

We are celebrating our 70th School Birthday; each class is doing a song to show different decades. We are doing very well in our classes and parents are also welcome to the family picnic and evening party. Dances are also included. These are our songs all from different decades.

  • Nursery: 1950s Teddy bear
  • Reception: 1950s Jailhouse Rock
  • Y1: 1960s medley of Songs, Here comes the sun, Locomotion, Ain't no mountain High, I wanna hold your hand and I feel good!
  • Y2: 1990s Spice Girls medley, Wannabe, Spice up your life and Who do you think you are?
  • Y3: 2000s Rock DJ
  • Y4: 1980s Walking on Sunshine
  • Y5: 1970s September
  • Y6: 2020s Levitating
  • KF: 2010s Body Rocking

This is going to be one of the greatest celebrations in our school's history.

Year 6 SATs - Smashed it!

This week, Year 6 have completed their SATs, which are done all throughout England from Monday to Thursday. On Monday, we did the spelling, punctuation and grammar tests (SPAG). On Tuesday however, we did the comprehension test and on Wednesday, we did the arithmetic and the reasoning 1 tests. On Thursday, we completed the reasoning 2 test. On a SATs days there was free breakfast club in Nightingales, from 8:00 to 8:30 and straight afterwards, Kate, the yoga teacher, gave a 20 minute yoga lesson. We were really well prepared.

The teachers are very proud of year 6!

Year 6 Morning Yoga

From the 13th to the 16th, Y6 participated in yoga to get themselves into the right mindset for SATS. Yoga takes place in the main hall from 8:30 to 8:50 and then we go straight into our tests. All pupils really enjoy yoga as nearly everyone showed up. I would like to say thank you to all the teachers who made this happen, and an extra big thank you to Kate, we really appreciate it.

The Incredible Livingstone Library

We are very grateful to have so many good things in this school and one of them being a wonderful library! Miss Armstrong makes a wonderful effort in the library to make sure that it is perfect for us children. We have a huge variety of books to choose from when we want to read. The library is a quiet place to chill or read quietly at school and we are really lucky to have one. There are always new, different books and series to look at. We all have different book levels that determines which sort of stories will suit us best. However, there are magazines, facts books, world record books and many more that we can look at during library time. This is for every year group when we get to read in the library (mostly on a Wednesday) and enjoy looking at the different types of stories. Thank you Miss Armstrong for making the library special for us and giving us a wide variety of books to choose from.

School Council donate to the RSPCA

Our lovely school council team, and Ms Speed put together a school movie night for KS1 and KS2. From this, we raised around £500 in total for two charities.

One charity was Cherry Lodge and the other charity was the RSPCA. Because the RSPCA was so grateful, they wanted to thank the school council pupils in person. So on the 22nd of April, the school council and the teachers Mr Sudbury and our headteacher Ms Phelan went to the RSPCA in Southridge.

All the pupils had a wonderful time looking around. We saw cats, rabbits and dogs that were all so cute. Overall all the children had fun and enjoyed going there.

Reception Visit Lee Valley Farm

On Tuesday the 7th of May Reception went to Lee Valley park an Educational visit. They had an amazing time feeding the animals such as the goats and they fed the meerkats live meal worms. They walked through the wallaby walk and had an excellent time and had lots of fun. They had their picnic at the farm and enjoyed the whole thing. They left at the start of school and arrived back at roughly 3:15.

They all had an amazing time learning about the farm and its animals!

Year 5 Baking Bread

In DT Year 5 have been making bread for someone in their class. Mrs Cockburn paired the pupils and they sat on a table together and they worked together to make the dough. Once they had finished making it, the teacher would split it in to quarters so everyone got a piece to use to make the bread. We then put he ingredients that their partner had chose into the dough. They folded it and turned it, so they can get all of the ingredients inside. After that, they scored the bread with the design their partner chose. Once they were done they baked the bread.

When the bread was ready, all of the children went to the dining hall so they could try the delicious bread that their partner had made for them. The bread tasted amazing; they all wanted more!

Year 5 ended up having a great time; now they will be baking bread for their parents at home!

Brainbooster Homework

Every year group has brain boosters to enrich the children's learning. Their are so many types of brain boosters: Maths, English, French, Baking , Science and so much more! I think that the hardest type of Brain Boosters is making presentations because they are really hard to get the materials for it. The Brain boosters are optional but they are really fun to do with your parents.

Caring for the Bunnies

When it comes to cleaning for our bunnies, it's a huge thing! You have to give them the exact amount of food, water, treats and hay! When caring for our bunnies, Coco and Toffee, we broom out all of the excess hay in the rug and floor, change their water(s), give them new food and treats, change their litter and make it enjoyable for them to relax and have fun in their home! We have two people doing it every day and every term, the job shifts from Year 6 to Year 5. Its like having another two pupils!

Copthall Field Events

Imagine participating in Copthall. The cheer of the roaring crowd, the beating of your heart as you step into the stadium... That's what our Livingstone children went through. Amazing, right? That's not all, but they also came, over all, third place! However, what will now be described is the field events, in which they came 2nd. Incredible, simply incredible. Year six Anastasia participated in long jump and came 6th, with Brychan in year six coming 2nd. What an achievement! The competition was fierce, but the children kept their spirits up. Did I mention that Elia in year 5 came 4th in long jump, which is fantastic, considering she's only just recovered from a leg injury, and Ryan from the same class came 7th. Now to move on to the vortex. There's nothing better to watch! You would think that you were watching the Olympics- they were simply breathtaking. Diya from year 6 left us with mouths hanging open as she crushed everyone else and made Livingstone proud. She came first! Dante from year six then came 7th- what an achievement! Anastasia in year five came 4th in speed bounce (which is more than any of us could ask for- the children's absolute best) and, in the same event, Sotirio in year five came 7th. Next, year 5 Abdullah unsurprisingly came first in shot put- it's never a surprise when children do amazing at Livingstone- and, also from year five, is Muthara. From year six, we have Arbel, who came 3rd in speed bounce and, last but not least, Muhammad came 1st in shotput! They have went above and beyond in doing such an excellent job.

Anastasia year 6 =)

Copthall Running Events

Last Friday, Copthall was held and children from KS2 participated in running relay races; the Y4 girls- Elsie, Anwen, Eva and Scarlett- came first in the race and so did the Y6 girls-Arbel, Chloe, Diya and Sienna-Rose, which shows their commitment as they won the race and tried their best. Both teams did amazing, especially since the other schools were also very rapid. The Y5 girls (Nadine, Elia, Olivia and Anastasia) got 2nd in their race competing against 4 other schools, which have 4 classes each year!

In addition to this, the girls who represented Livingstone in the sprint: Yvette and Renee from Y3, Elsie and Anwen from Y4, Nadine and Olivia from Y5 and, lastly, Chloe and Diya from Y6 were running as quick as lightning-you barely saw them, especially Y4 and Y6! Getting placed in 1st (Y4), 2nd (Y5) and 1st (Y6).

Furthermore, the children who were running the 400m race- who were Anastasia and Abdullah in Y5, Arbel and Muhammad from Y6- got 1st for Anastasia and 5th for Abdullah, Arbel got 3rd place and Muhammad was placed as 5th.

Y4 and Y6 boys-Leon, Nathaniel, Stefi and Kevin for Y4;Albeiro, Brychan, Xander and Rehan for Y6-both were 2nd in their relay races. Also, the Y3s running the relay race- Yvette, Ellis, Renee and George-4th. Many were competing in the sprint with the Y4s having 60m to sprint and Y6s having 80m to run! All the children who ran in the races did great and did their best as always. Moreover, Y5 boys: Ravi, Ryan, Sotirio and Abdullah got 5th in their relay race

Those who participated in Copthall did remarkable in any of the events whether it was golf or running.

Well done to Elsie and Anwen from Y4, Nadine and Anastasia from Y5, Chloe and Diya from Y6, Ravi in Y5 and Brychan in Y6 for reaching their finals, a remarkable achievment!

Copthall Golf - Fourrrrrrr!

On the 10th of May, many children were selected to come to participate in a sports event which only happens once a year (Copthall). There were many groups to compete against other schools in different types of sports: vortex, shotput, long jump, relay and many more. But what I'm here to talk about is the golf team that took part in the event: Sienna Madle, Zachariah, Soryian, Skye, Medina, Eren, Grace and George. All of them did incredibly well which isn't surprising for we have a fantastic team. Many of them were very worried since it was their first time taking part in this event but all of them just gritted their teeth and did what they had to do for they might not get the chance next year. Sadly, they did not come first but what really matters is that they did their best to try and win. Anyway, I think they really do deserve a big round of applause. They came 3rd out of 14 schools!

Mixed Football match vs Sacred Heart

On the 9th of April, the Livingstone mixed football team faced Sacred Heart in the last game of the season. We decided to play a purely Year 6 team as it was the last game of the season. The team performed so well with Diya and Sienna not letting anything past them. Brychan directed the troops from the goal and Xander led from the front. Dante was outstanding, winning the ball constantly. The highlight of the game was good build up play from Chloe and Arber which led the ball to Xander who crossed it and George smashed it in the top corner with a volley. The celebration was one to remember as George removed his shirt and did a lap of the pitch! Mr Thomas and Mr Madle told us how proud they were of our performance. The final result ended 5-0 to Livingstone! Arbel scored 1, George scored 1, and Xander scored a hattrick. Everyone played incredible. Well done to Chloe, Sienna, Diya, Brychan, Dante, Xander, Arber, George and Arbel.

Girl's Final vs Whitings Hill

On the 25th of April, the girls football team went against Whitings Hill for a final. Arbel, Diya, Sienna, Mya, Leah, Jaime, Anastasia, Elsie, Anwen and Chloe played in the match. It was a tense match for the whole match but all the girls played as a team and dominated in large parts of the game. Mr Thomas gave an Ange Postecoglou style half time talk and it inspired the whole team. They all played exceptionally well and the teachers were all so proud of them. Elsie scored and we won 1-0! Thank you to all the teachers and children who came out to watch this amazing final.

Tag Ruby vs St Johns N20

On the 24/05/24, Livingstone played their second Tag Rugby game of the season against St Johns N20. This is a local school which resembles a Saracens vs Harlequins derby. The team were very comfortable as they got their noses in front. The continued played exceptionally well and made loads of tags. It was a very harsh game but Livingstone pushed them selves and persevered. The game ended as a win to LIVINGSTONE! We won the game 11 - 7. The teachers and everyone were very proud of us.

The children from Year 5/6 that participated in this game: Anastasia, Zainab, Charlotte, Chloe, Arbel, Brychan, Xander, Eva and Nadine.

Tag Rugby vs Trent

Two weeks ago, Livingstone's Rugby team faced Trent. The score was 7-4 to Livingstone and the players who scored were: Brychan, Arbel, Nadine, Sienna, Xander, Chloe.

The team have practised since September and have been very well-prepared and coached by Mr Boucon. We thank him for his hard work and dedication. We are all happy that we won, and we hope that the rugby team can keep this up and win even more matches. This result meant that Livingstone finished first in the league and crowned Barnet League Champions.

Excited about Boulogne

In year 5 , the children are going to Bolougne, France on the 6th of June, where we will go to do many activities: going to the largest aquarium in Europe, going to a restaurant (where our French speaking skills will be put to the test), a look around the beach, a castle with a museum inside and a look around the local shops!

We are all very excited and can't wait to go!

At the local shops we will be able to buy items that are culturally French. We have to leave at 5:00am and we will arrive back at school at 9:00. We are so excited and grateful that Miss Papas has organised this day trip.
