May Week 3

Copthall Athletics Running Events
On Thursday 22nd of May, we took 40 pupils from classes year 3,4,5 and 6 to Copthall - which is a massive sports event. After a long time of preparation, we were ready for the competition. In the afternoon, after the amazing field events, track sports began.
There were a variety of different track events: sprints, year 3 relay, year 4, 5 and 6 relay and 400m for years 5 and 6.
Being the amazing and hard -working school we are, Livingstone had amazing success and many 3rd, 2nd and 1st places. For example, the year 5 relay team came first!! As well as relay, our Year 6 pupil, Anastasia, came first in her 400m and Leo in Year 3 came first in his sprint.
In track, out of 10 schools, Livingstone came in an amazing 2nd place!!! Although the children competed really hard is is important not to forget the incredible staff members that came. But an extra thanks to Miss Fairly for organising this fun and fabulous event!

Copthall Athletics Field Events

Short date for this event: 22.05.2025. On this day, students of Livingstone Primary School attended Stadium Stone X to compete in an athletics competition. Upon arrival at the massive stadium, everyone got ready for a day of competing and fun. Many 1st, 2nd and 3rd places were handed out, in fact, an incredible 11 of the children placed in the top 3 for each activity. Considering the field event consisted of 16 challenges, this was an astounding achievement! With all the amazing talent on show, it was almost certain that we would come out on top! Thank you to all our awesome teachers for making the day possible with a special shout to Ms Fairley for coordinating the day.
Well done Livingstone!

Year 6 SATs

Over the period of an academic week, Year 6 had to do their SATS, and they absolutely smashed it! They all spent A LOT of their brain power into practising so in return, they could have better results (when they finally come). Although there were a few tears, everybody eventually got over the stress and pushed through their way to the end. Over a day, they would at least do one test, with the most being two - it was extremely draining. Overall, I would like to give a big well done to the whole of Year 6 and that there is no need to worry about results when they come out! Good job!

Choir Cluster Rehearsal
Every school has a choir (nearly), and so do we. This year, our amazing choir group will be taking part in the BMSF (Barnet Music School Festival). They are going there to sing, experience something new and most of all, to enjoy themselves! But as everyone says, practice makes perfect! No, not perfect, permanent because nothing is perfect! And, well, you all might as well take a guess what this is about. This paragraph is all about their cluster rehearsal and everything that they did at Trent School (that's where they went to practice). They magically transported themselves there by magic, can you believe it? Nah, just joking about like I usually do. They went there by minibus, which is a bus that is smaller than the usual ones that we see. When they arrived, they were warmly welcomed by Ros Samarin, who leads this amazing event. She polished, perfected (permanented) and improved their singing and memory skills by going over the songs, over and over again until it was perfect (again there is no such thing as perfect). By the end of this rehearsal, they knew basically every single word in the songs that they were learning. They even learnt some of the parts that they weren't meant to sing! And also, by the end of the day they returned with happy smiles on their faces and extra knowledge in music.

Success for Tottenham!

This week brought an unforgettable experience for Maya from Year 4, who had the incredible opportunity to attend the Spurs final! Her dad, Sergio Raimundo, is one of the first team assistant coaches, and thanks to him, Maya got a behind-the-scenes look at the big event.
Not only did she meet all the players, but she also had her photo taken with none other than Son Heung-Min! To top it all off, Maya even held the trophy—though she reported it was really heavy!
Her exciting adventure has certainly brought smiles to many faces at school, especially Mrs Phelan and Mr Madle, who are still beaming with pride.
Nursery Fun!
We are very lucky to have a nursery class here at Livingstone! Lately they have been looking at life cycles - mostly caterpillars. There even have their own caterpillars and there going to watch them grow and when they turn into butterflies, they will set them free. They also love books! They have been looking at two books: the hungry caterpillar by Eric Carle and Oi Frog by Kes Grey and Jim Field. You have probably heard of them. With Oi Frog they have loved finding rhyming pairs for different words. They also have done days of the week and healthy food options. They have loved playing in the pond area and with young fish and frogs.

Thank you so much to the nursery teacher who planned all these wonderful activities :]
Year 2 Trip to the Transport Museum
Year 2 made an exciting trip to the transport museum. They made their way there going on the underground train, it was lots of fun. While at the transport museum year 2 had a workshop and including that workshop they went for a treasure hunt trying to find bits of a map and put it back together. Year 2 didn't only go to a workshop but they also went to the gift shop buying the most delicious lollies [ some even got one for their sibling ! ] After a long day of learning while having fun, year 2 must say that they really enjoyed it ! Thank you to every teacher and parent who help arrange and bring the kids to this amazing trip! With alot of fun and laughter !! : )

VE Celebrations with Oliver and Isabelle
Oliver and Isabelle, both members of the Sea Cadets, took part in the VE Day celebrations by attending a commemorative event at St Michael's Church. This was a meaningful experience, as it allowed them to honour the sacrifices of the past while representing their community and learning the importance of remembrance and service.
Sporting Success
Ok our school is amazing but there have been some even more amazing achievements that our children have won. For example, Liana won a swimming competition for the under 9's and Daniella won some of her swimming competition for the under 13's! She did 200m front crawl, 100m backstroke, 50m breaststroke and 50m front crawl. Dotty also has had some football success being voted for the team's best player as well as the player who the parent's thought were the best. This proves that working hard is never a bad thing and we are so delighted to have heard of these outer school successes.

Year 3 Persuasive Writing
Year 3 have been busy crafting persuasive leaflets all about the magical tropical islands of Trinidad and Tobago. Their writing was so engaging that Year 4 were invited to read the leaflets and sample some of the islands’ delicious produce. It was a vibrant and tasty way to explore Caribbean culture and geography—well done to all our budding writers!
SATs Yoga with Kate
You might know Kate from yoga club (aka Sonny's mum) but during the Year 6 SATS test she has very kindly helped the year 6's relax and get all their stress out of their minds ready for SATs. Like most sports teachers (and yes, yoga is a sport) they need to warm-up so they didn't pull a muscle. Wouldn't that be so annoying if you pulled a muscle on your SATs day you'd be in pain the whole day.
They also have special poses on each day and quotes
on Monday it was tree pose
On Tuesday it was the warrior pose
on Wednesday it was downward dog
on Thursday they did cat cow
One of the quotes was...
"Be a warrior not a worrier"
So thank you to Kate for helping the year 6!

Parent Champions Coffee Morning
On the 10th of March there was a Parent Champions Coffee Morning. This is where parents can come to the cabin and discuss different things. We have our amazing parent champions to help with that. They can help other parents and give good advice. And most importantly, there is either cake or biscuits or sometimes both!
Let’s have a big cheer for our parent champions.

Year 4 Verulamium Trip
On the 8th of May Year 4 visited Verulamium Museum as a part of their Roman learning. It used to be a Roman fortress and was the third most important town in England during Roman times. They took part in an artefacts workshop which helped them learn more about how the Romans lived. They also visited the hypocaust which was the underground heating system and saw the ancient wall that surrounded the city. This was a great opportunity for the Year 4's to learn about life in the past!

Reception trip to Lee Valley
On the Wednesday (the 7th of May) Mrs Reynolds, Mrs Mills, Mr Sudbury and Diane went with Reception on their trip to Lee Valley. They were learning about the three little pigs. The animals they saw were meerkats, Tortoises, Wallabees, rabbits and pigs. They really enjoyed seeing the animals, having lunch on the picnic tables and the adventure playground. Thank you to all the teachers who helped make this trip happen, the children loved it.

Tag Rugby vs St Catherines
On Monday, the 19th of May, the Year 5/6 tag rugby team played a match against St Catherines where they absolutely smashed it! With all their effort, the game ended as a 9 -3 to Livingstone! Can you believe that? This is a result of the great teaching that Mr Boucon puts his time into every Monday after school. We worked as a team pushing through all the challenges we faced. We never gave up and kept on going. A big well done to:
- Albeiro
- Eren
- Lewis
- Anwin
- Elsie
- Nadine
- Zainab

DFE comes to film Cabin!
On the 6th of May the Department of Education (a very big organisation) wanted to know how the teachers and children experienced cabin. They interviewed and filmed some teachers and took pictures of the children. Mrs Armstrong said she wanted to work there for extra work and so that the parents could work without worrying about their children. The children had a pleasurable experience and the DFE came out happy and satisfied. What an interesting event to have. :)
