November Week 3
Friday 18th November
We are introducing a new spelling programme to Livingstone: No Nonsense Spelling. Years 3 and 6 are starting it next week while the other year groups are beginning in January. With No Nonsense Spelling, spelling tests comprising of lists of words have been replaced with dictations, so instead of our original spelling test sheet being sent home, the children will get a word list with an activity and definitions of their words. We encourage you to continue practising your child/rens's spellings with them and we will evaluate the impact later in the year.
It was National Anti-Bullying Week and we held activities under the theme of ‘Power for Good.’ The children have enjoyed creating their own superheroes, making friendship videos, taking part in circle time, making stickers for friends during lunchtime and many more activities. Lots of children received stickers for being good friends in the playground and have earned raffle tickets for their good behaviour. We hope their positive attitudes and kindness towards others continues throughout the year.
This half term’s British value is Respect and the School Council have been asking their classes about what respect means to them. We have combined their ideas and this what we have got so far: being kind and caring, listening, being nice, appreciating differences, being honest. Also our teachers will be choosing a child that shows the most respect in their class and we will award them with a British value badge at the end of term.

Despite the technical problems Year 2E and 2G performed their Pirate Songs beautifully. Thank you to all the staff Miss Gomes, Mr Ephgrave, Mrs Duggan, Miss Alonso and Miss Hunter for preparing them so well. A special thank you goes to Miss Purse who is completing her teacher training and is doing a great job working with the pupils in 2E.
