In the meantime, during drop-off or pick-up times, please be mindful that the class teachers have responsibility for the whole class and may not be able to engage in extended conversations. These moments are crucial for ensuring all pupils enter and leave the classroom safely.

We kindly ask that parents and carers:

  • Wait until all pupils have gone into class or have been dismissed before approaching the class teacher to relay a message. Messages can also be left with the Teaching Assistant or the School Office who will inform the class teacher.

Any parent/carer who would like a more detailed discussion can talk to the class teacher at the consultations or make an appointment.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain a smooth and safe start and end to the school day.

Working Together for Good Attendance

Good attendance and punctuality are vital for your child’s learning and help build positive habits for life.

Reporting Absence

Please contact us on the first day of absence and keep us updated if it continues. This ensures we know your child is safe and can keep accurate records. After 3 days of consecutive illness the school may require medical evidence to support the absence.

Morning Routine

Children should be in the playground from 8:40am. Registers close at 8:55am; arrivals after this time will be marked late.

Authorised Absences

Absences may only be authorised for reasons such as:

  • Illness
  • Medical or dental appointments (please try to book outside school hours)
  • Religious observance
  • Family bereavement

Absence during term time is only permitted in exceptional circumstances. After 3 days of illness, medical evidence may be requested.

Illness Guidance

Children who vomit or have diarrhoea should stay home for 48 hours after the last episode to avoid spreading infection.

Nursery

This week in Nursery, we have been learning all about nocturnal animals. Our core story has been Owl Babies by Martin Waddell, which the children have thoroughly enjoyed. They particularly loved making stick puppets of the characters, practising their scissor skills safely and confidently. In Maths, we’ve been exploring 2D shapes, learning to name and describe the properties of squares, circles, rectangles, and triangles. The children also had fun making healthy owl snacks using rice cakes and fruit. We are continuing to welcome new friends into Nursery and it's getting busier and buzzier each day! A gentle reminder to please send in a spare change of clothes with all items clearly labelled, along with a pair of wellie boots to keep at Nursery. Don’t forget, book bags should come in on Tuesdays so your child can choose a new story to take home. Have a wonderful weekend!

KFE and Bluebirds

Another busy week in KFE and Bluebirds. We have continued settling in and learning new routines, all the children are more familiar with these routines and are getting to know each other more. We have enjoyed sensory play and art and craft around the them of autumn.

In Bluebirds we have been working hard on phonics and counting in the mornings. Our afternoon sessions have been themed around our bodies and our emotions.

Both classes have had the Owl babies as their sensory story this week.

Reception

What a busy and exciting first full week in Reception for the whole class! We have continued meeting new grownups around the school, have been trying new foods during lunch times and are settling well into all of the routines.

This week the children have been discussing and watching how the fruit and vegetables that we get for snack time grow, have been trying hard to learn each other's names, have discovered conkers and even met Fred the frog! Fred has helped the children to learn sounds for the introduction of phonics and the children have been trying so hard to join in during phonics sessions each day.

We are looking forward to another full week when we begin to talk about ourselves and our families - please can you either bring in a photocopied picture of your family or send one to the office for us to put on our 'family wall'

Year 1

In Maths, we are still learning about place value where children have continued to count forwards and backwards from 1 to 10. Children have used the resources to represent numbers in different ways and identify what number is before and after. We are continuing with the Read Write Inc scheme in phonics. Our new foundation subject for two weeks is Geography where we are learning about the United Kingdom. We have looked at maps to identify the four countries and their capital cities. We have also discussed where we live and what is around our local area.
