February Week 4

Friday 1st March

Mixed League Football vs Northside

Everyone who attends football club has made huge progress and improved with their skills but also as working as a team. On Wednesday, some children represented our school in a mixed league football match against Northside Primary School. The game got off to a great start as we were leading one nil but the game grew tense as Northside equalised. The quality of football was incredible and we managed to turn the game around and retake the lead. Xander scored the next goal and Kevin scored two more giving Livingstone the win! The game ended 4-1 to us.

Well done to Xander, Chloe, Arbel, Sienna, Sotirio, Oliver, Brychan, Stefi and Kevin.

Homework and Brain Boosters

Thank you to everyone who sent comments to the Parent Reps regarding homework. Please send your comments to the office if you would like to respond directly or have more to add. We will be making some minor adjustments this academic year and review what has been said for the next academic year.

Reminder to all parents/carers that Brain Boosters do not have to be completed by the children but are there as an enrichment exercise related to topics at school.

Cinema Night Success!

Cinema Night was a great success on Tuesday and due to its popularity, we managed to raise just under £500 to be shared between the nominated charities, Cherry Lodge Cancer and the RSPCA, plus a little extra for Red Nose Day. Thank you to all the parents/carers who stepped in last minute to make the popcorn and help out on the pocket money stall. Also, a big thanks goes to the members of staff who also gave up their time for charity.

Attendance

b1fWfHxRUc9YMZ

This week's attendance was 97%, not as much as last week but still good!

Nursery and Kingfisher Nursery

This week has flown by as the children have been busy enjoying our book of the week: Jack and the Beanstalk. They have explored all different types of beans and learnt about how they grow. They have coloured, painted and collaged beanstalks and characters. They have built castles in the clouds, unearthed, counted and sorted 'magic beans' and listened to and created related music.

We have enjoyed the improved weather and spent lots of time extending the learning into our outdoor classroom and the playground.

We also planted our own beans and we are hoping that they will become as tall as Jack's beanstalk! We are going to observe their growth and look after them in the next weeks.

Reception

We have had a very exciting week in Reception continuing to learn about the people that help us. We had a visit from PC Lee, our school officer who showed us all of the equipment that a police officer needs and even showed us how handcuffs are used by arresting Miss Purse! We started discussing fire safety and how firefighters are another emergency service. Mr Sudbury showed us how a fire is put out using an extinguisher and water. We are learning a song about the people that help us and the children have been bravely performing it to each other too!

Ofsted Letter

1sz6AetYKLSW_P

Another letter has been sent to the school regarding Ofsted, though this time from Sir Martyn,Oliver, the Head of Ofsted. No matter how long it has been since the inspection, it is still wonderful to hear such positve things about our school.

Fostering

Approximately 900 new foster families are needed in the London region to meet the current demand. Prompted by this challenging statistic, Barnet has joined with over 80 other Local Authorities in the production of a short fostering film called 'Any Of Us'. The film was launched nationally on the 26th September 2023 and shared on various social media platforms e.g., Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, SKY Ads and Barnet’s website. You can view film here.

‘Any Of Us’ looks at fostering through the lens of a young girl called Chloe and three very different adults who could be her foster carer. The film tells a story about Chloe who needs to come into foster carer, and one of these three people will become Chloe’s foster carer, the film shows us her journey into fostering.

The rising cost of living and the Pandemic greatly impacted fostering and our ability to recruit sufficient numbers of fostering households to meet the needs of children. The aim of this film is to come together nationally to raise the profile of fostering and shine a light on the national shortage of foster families that are so urgently needed.

Barnet Council continues to provide good quality support to existing foster families. We believe by encouraging the community in Barnet to consider offering to care for the children and young people who need foster families, because they are unable to live in their own family’s’. Any of us can foster a child or young person and make a difference to the lives of children and young people.

We hope this film will inspire you to learn more about fostering, please contact our Carer Recruitment Team today on 0208 359 6274 or fostering@barnet.gov.uk.
