March Week 4

Friday 22nd March

Greek Day in Year 3

Parent Representation Meeting

Parents asked would it be possible for the school to have a themed book day next year and maybe decorate the school too?

Response: This is something the school will definitely look into for next year.

Year 4 loved their trip to the Harry Potter Studio and wonder if they can get some photos from the teachers?

Response: This is definitely something that can be arranged.

Parents asked will swimming start for year 3 after Easter?

Do the girls and boys change separately?

Response: Year 3 will start swimming after Easter and the children change separately.

The children have asked if the choir could sing some modern songs?

Response: A lot of the songs that the children are singing are in preparation for the music festival and have been chosen by the local authority so the choice is set. However, it was suggested that warm up songs could be something more up to date.

Parents have asked if children will go swimming in Reception.

Response: Unfortunately there isn’t enough time to get them all changed and ready in Reception. However, we will look at getting extra sessions for different year groups when the pool opens in Victoria Park.

Due to all the nits and bugs going round in early years some parents asked if the school could have a deep clean.

Mrs Phelan informs us that the school regularly has a deep clean to eliminate the bugs.

There was concern from some parents regarding the amount of sweets been given out for birthdays and other occasions?

Response: This has been reduced as we are aiming to promote healthy eating. We have asked for alternatives to sweets for birthdays and staff have been asked to limit the sharing of birthday treats to one sweet or a mouthful of cake.

Some parents have been asking if there will be more family yoga.

Response: Mrs Kelly will arrange family yoga classes if enough people sign up.

Kingfisher parents have asked if there will be a buddy system and if so will it be children from the same Year?

Response: Years 5 and 6 act as playground buddies and they play with Kingfisher pupils. It won’t always be the same person, sometimes the buddies swap so they can have a play time. We also have class buddies for new starters.

Year 6 sadly never got to go to the Harry Potter studios in year 4 and they would really love to go.

Response: We may be able to get some school price tickets if enough want to go.

Some parents in Nursery have mentioned that they haven’t had a consultation since they started.

Response: Parents have been offered a consultation this week.

Special Thanks to Mrs Stephens for the Cake Sale and to Caroline Moffatt (Aiden and Edward’s mum) who helped at short notice!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the £260 raised for Red Nose Day!

Cross Country Intra-house

At Livingstone, we pride ourselves in leading competitions where children can compete in various competitions to represent their house colour team. The time had come for our annual KS2 in school competition.  Years 3-4 had to run one lap of the field and Years 5-6 had to run 2. We are so proud of all the children who completed the race to gain points for their house team. We combined all the scores together and the overall winner was.... Blue team! Well done to everyone who took part,

Cross Country Allianz Park

On Tuesday, children from Years 4-6 took part in a cross country competition at Allianz Park.  Each child had to run a mile through the muddy fields and despite the weather, they did amazingly. Those who had taken part in this race before had improved, finishing in quicker positions.  The children represented our school with such determination and motivation so well done to Roxy, Darina, Sarah, Finley, Mo, Charlie, Alfie, Jordan, Ollie, Sammie and Scarlett.

Wednesday 20th March- Y4 Football

Children from Year 4 took part in a power league football competition against other schools in Barnet.  Despite not having much training or playing together as a team, the children did exceptionally well. Before the matches had even started, their sporting attitude was fantastic showing an excellent sporting ethos. They played a total of four matches; lost one, won one and drew two.

Well done Nikhil, Aiden, CJ, Kal-el, Tyler, Ollie and Tommy!

Visit to Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Temple

This week, Year 5 visited the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist temple in Oxford Circus where they offered incense to Buddha, learned meditation techniques, found out more about the story of Buddha and learned about the lotus flower symbol. All of the pupils left feeling more enlightened about  Buddhism. Our trips to different places of worship teach our pupils to respect everyone, no matter their religion or beliefs.
