May Week 4

Friday 27th May

Year 6 SATs...completed.

For the first time in 2 years, Year 6 took the SATs papers! They have all worked very hard towards this. They were given a practice SATs week, 2 weeks before the actual tests so that they knew what it was like. The majority of year 6 found it easier than expected which shows how prepared they were. Before each day (up until Friday), Year 6 were offered to come to breakfast club and yoga to calm themselves before they sat down and completed the tests. Thank you to Kate, Mrs Kelly, Mrs Reynolds, Mrs Hunter and Mrs Boucon. On Friday, year 6 were rewarded with a trip to Trent Park. There, they played lots of outdoor games. We hope everyone enjoyed this.

Science Week plan

Are you a fan of Science Week? Well your in luck because Science was this week. Science Week is a yearly 10 day celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths. The organisers of The British Science Association had chosen this year's theme to be about about growth as a way of reflecting on our experiences during the coronavirus pandemic; another major aim for this year's Science Week was celebrating people from diverse backgrounds and careers in science and engineering.

There were also different activities you could explore, for example, you could do cooking, dress up, experiments and lots of other things. Livingstone also participated by telling everyone to do an experiment on making a small gummy bear grow to become a big gummy bear and the children have gone to the pond area at lunchtimes. Using the pond area children have carried out bug hunts, planted seeds, shared reading books based on nature and sorted different life cycles. I hope you all have a good Science Week and that you have fun.

Founders Day Jubilee Picnic

On the 27th May, Livingstone has celebrated it's 68th anniversary, since it was founded on the 22nd of May 1954. We had a family picnic on the field to celebrate the Queen's platinum jubilee; this means marking the day the Queen had her coronation - since she is in charged of the commonwealth countries we had dance lessons from these commonwealth countries. We learnt these 5 dances: English country dancing, SOCA Caribbean dance, Indian dancing, African dancing, the Haka which is from Australia / New Zealand and to finish the day we did a whole-school dance of Jerusalema which even the teachers joined in.

Copthall Success!

On the 24.5.22 the KS2 Athletics Competition took place at the Copthall Stone X Stadium in which year 3, 4, 5 and 6 participated. There were a variety of different sports events such as: relay, 400m, high jump, long jump, javelin, shot putt, speed bounce, tug of war and sprinting. All the Copthall staff members were helping us and demonstrating to ensure that Livingstone had a successful day.

Coming first in field events were - Lois and Zach in the long jump, Sinan and Alex in javelin, Ben in shot putt and Hattie in speed bounce. We had lots of children who placed second and third in the field events which secured Livingstone an overall triumphant win, achieving the Field Events Trophy.

Other firsts were, Lois and Qamarzada in the 400m race and year 4 and 5 won the relay. There were also many 2nd and 3rd place winners, though if I list them we would be here forever! Once again Livingstone won the tug of war, which seems to be our specialism!

Livingstone won 2nd place overall for the whole competition.

A big thank you to Miss Fairley for once again making sure that Livingstone have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and sportsmanship.

MC Grammar visits Livingstone

Mc Grammar visited our school on Tuesday 17th May! For those of you who don't know who MC Grammar is, he used to be a teacher at our school but got viral from posting himself rapping the Gruffullo. Then, he even got onto the Ellen show and won a lot of money! He was singing with some of our choir students. The people who got picked were singing for exclusive episodes of his Sky TV series 'Wonder Raps', they haven't even come out yet! They even got to watch some episodes that will be coming out later this year!

We have learnt about Elgar -Land of Hope and Glory, Beethoven -Symphony No.5, Vivaldi - Four Seasons and many more. Mr Madle and Mrs Phelan have been teaching us how long ago the music has been made.

There are many classical musicians that we have learnt about over the last few weeks. We have not only learnt about musicians we have learnt about artists (Van Gogh) and architects (Isambard Kingdom Brunel).

New Playground in EYFS

PKyQpuu8DDnNP_

Out with the old, in with the new!

We've all been to the nursery and reception playground at least once, either because of a visit to the younger years, picking up the children or starting your journey of Livingstone in Nursery or Reception, and it is considered one of the best classes in the school. The Telly Tubby hill was a staple of the playground that we all loved the most but, sadly, it is now being taken down...

...To be rebuilt as a castle for the children of Nursery and reception to enjoy! Yes, the beloved Telly Tubby Hill is being rebuilt into a castle, replacing it and adding even more features! We hope you like this new addition to the playground of EYFS.

KS2 Archery Taster

On Friday 20th May Yr2 - Yr6 took part in an archery workshop. We learnt how to put the arrow into the bow, played some games and best of all, had some fun. Everyone who participated tried their very best and had shown what they learnt. Some people even got a bull's eye! How incredible is that? I hope that everyone who took part had fun. I think they did.

Interhouse Dodgeball

We all love Dodgeball, am I right? And I certainly do love a good competition against our Houses, well, luckily, we had a chance for a tournament! The tournament teams were yellow, red, green and blue and we all represented our team by a colored Bib. In the end we had some human cannons and dodging masters, but all the teams were fair.

Yr 6 Winners: Green Team

Yr 5 Winners: Blue Team

Yr 4 Winners: Red Team

Yr 3 Winners: Green Team

Yr 2 Winners: Red Team

Yr 1 Winners: Yellow Team

All the points from each competition were collated together to generate an overall Livingstone Dodgeball Champion of Champions. In joint 3rd place were the Green and Blue Team, 2nd place was the Yellow Team and 1st place goes to Red Team!

Girls Football Final

Did you know the year 4-6 girls football team got into the final? Well if you want to hear about it keep reading! The final was Livingstone against Christ Church, the score was 0-8 to Christ Church, even though we lost, none of the girls gave up one part of the match. The people that took part in this played amazingly well and the support on the side line was incredible! People that came to watch gave a huge amount of encouragement while the game was happening. The girls should be proud of themselves since they made it this far, we got a medal each and we all took a picture with it on. None of this would of happened if it was not for Mr Thomas, Mrs Fairley and Mr Madle, who organised it.

Kingfisher Pentathlon

On 22/04/22, Kingfisher competed in a pentathlon against 8 or 9 different schools in Barnet. They travelled in a minibus to Copthall leisure centre. They tried their best and new things. Mario, Nathan, Jack F, Zack, Jamie, George, Calvin and Jaydon competed in this event. The games were Boccia Blast, Bean Bag Throw, Parachute Popcorn, Kurling, Poly Bat, Basketball, Races, Flight Path, Messi Football and Tennis Time Trial. They were 1st in 4 games and gained 2 game points for taking part in sport stations. When they won, they still showed great sportsmanship and congratulated the other teams. Special mention to the one and only photography extraordinaire, Mrs Stephens!

Choir at School

ksMDY2i9UnydFD

In our school, you may not know that we have our own choir! Choir is a chance for all children to have the chance to sing and most importantly have fun! In choir, we sing many different songs. On the 21st June, the choir will be singing at the Arts depot. The children will be singing 6 different songs and their own, ' Best day of my life by American Authors '. They have been working incredibly hard singing once a week. This is a very important and special event because of lockdown. If you read above there will be more information about the choir singing with MC Grammar! They have shown great team spirit throughout.

Forest School

We are very lucky that every Wednesday, Diane does forest school. Forest school is a time to explore and discover nature in the pond area. There is such things such as trees, a bug hotel, birds house and much more for you to explore. It is mostly relaxing and calm but you regularly have to be quiet for the birds! Shhh!
