Q. Can there be 2 different release points for clubs, as some of us keep missing out due to being at work when clubs are released?

A. We are unable to do two release times but club places will now be released at 5.45 pm, the latest that they can be sent out before the school closes at 6 pm. Please note that anyone missing out on a club should contact Mrs Kelly and she will make sure they go to the top of the list for the next booking slot.

Q. Can clubs be released at the end of the month as they're always released the week before some of us get paid?

A. Clubs are released half-termly because as a school we work to that schedule in everything that we do.

Q. Can the camp night be opened to more families next year please?

A. Camp night is growing in popularity, but the field was not built as a camping site. For that reason, numbers have been increased but are limited to match the facilities available.

Q. Request for more notice before events for Parents/carers to arrange time off work.

A. In order to give parents/carers more notice of events, we have added a link to an annual calendar. Dates will be added throughout the year, so it is important to keep checking for changes.

Q. A request been made for Paris next year.

A. We are hoping to keep Paris but every year the trip has been impacted by political events adding an element of risk for the pupils. - Even King Charles and Queen Camilla had to cancel and reschedule their visit during the period of rioting- something that we would not be able to do!

The trip to Paris will be reviewed at the time of booking and the decision will be made subject to what is happening in the city.

Attendance

b1fWfHxRUc9YMZ

This week our whole school attendance was 96%.

As we head into the colder months and shorter days, remember there are only 3 weeks until half term so let's make the most of our learning time by being here on time, every day.

Mrs Barton and Mr Madle

Nursery and Kingfisher Nursery

This week in Nursery and Kingfisher Nursery we focused on the story 'Dear Zoo' by Rod Campbell. The pupils enjoyed listening to the story and learning about the zoo animals. They created amazing collages using animal skin patterned paper, got involved in sensory play, and enjoyed a music lesson playing instruments to the beat of nursery rhymes and the 'Dear Zoo' song.

At the end of the week, we had two 'mystery readers' from Y4, Anwen and Elsie, who shared a Julia Donaldson story. What a brilliant week!

Reception

This week we have been talking about ourselves and our families in Reception. We have been learning about the ways we are the same and how we are different. Thank you to everyone who bought in a family picture, we welcome others to do the same :)

We had our first walk to the woods and have been noticing the world around us and collecting signs of Autumn. You are welcome to bring things in for our Autumn table too!

We have also started learning our sounds in phonics and the children are very enthusiastic. Well done reception class!

Year 1

Year 1 have enjoyed another busy and exciting week. We began classifying objects by their materials, and we certainly have some budding scientists! Have a look at objects in your house over the weekend; see if your children can identify the materials that make up these objects.

We are comparing numbers in maths using the terms 'greater' or 'less' than and have found practical ways of finding one more.

We continue to learn Set 2 sounds in phonics: ay, ee, igh, ow, oo (poo at the zoo), oo (look at a book). Please review these sounds and listen to your children read the 2 phonics books to you every day for 10 minutes. Continue to read to your children with your own picture books at home as well as the library book they choose weekly. We look forward to our first mystery reader next week! I wonder who it will be?!

Year 4

In Maths, we have been using our place value knowledge, to find 1, 10, 100 and 1,000 more or less of a given number and ordering and comparing numbers up to 10,000.

In English, we have been writing, editing and publishing our emotive letters, inspired by Anthony Browne's book 'Into the Forest'.

In D&T, we have started making our moving monsters which the children are absolutely hooked on. We can't wait to see their finished products.

This week, the children practised rounding in Maths and used their knowledge of place value to help them.

In English, they drafted, edited and published their first piece of writing - a fairy-tale recount from the villain's point-of-view. They did a good job of including everything they needed and some of them showed great character and humour.

In the afternoons, they've been geographers learning about rivers and the water cycle. They looked at Ordinance Survey symbols and plotted landmarks and tourist attractions around the River Thames and the River Seine, and they learned the features of rivers: source, mouth, confluence, tributary, floodplain and meander.

In Kingfisher 2 we have written a plan for an informal letter to a pen pal and started to write our first paragraph, giving information about ourselves.

In place value, we were using number lines. We completed, labelled and estimated the numbers on the number lines (using 1’s and multiples of 10) before exploring other number lines with more varied start and end points and a different number of intervals.
