Art
Art
Art, craft and design embody some of the highest forms of human creativity. A high-quality art and design education should engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art, craft and design.

Art at Livingstone
At Livingstone, art is taught to pupil by their class teacher as a foundation subject in blocks. This allows the children to be fully immersed in the topic each term. These lessons focus on knowledge of a topic, artist or movement in particular and also allows them to link their art work to other areas of their learning (see curriculum overview below for topics). Additionally, we aim to timetable in at least one half term per year in which children are taught a carefully planned and delivered art skills curriciulum by a specialist during creative curriculum lessons on a Wednesday. This enables them to develop their skills in drawing, painting, sculpture and printing. This is done in a skills book which will follow the children through their schooling and show clearly the development of their art skills.
During their time at Livingstone, children will be introduced to a wide variety of artistic mediums. Through their school career students can expect to experiment with a range of paints. Students will draw with materials such as pencil, ink, charcoal and pastels. Sculpture is introduced with clay and junk modelling. Other artistic areas will be covered include textiles, printmaking and collage to name a few.
