Happy New Year!
Friday 7th February
Last year was 2024. Now, take a guess what this year is. Yup, that's right! It's 2025. A new year. Last year, we all made mistakes, there's no denying that. And this year, we will all make even more mistakes. But without them, we wouldn't learn or move on in changes. If you don't make mistakes, you are definitely not human. Anyways. We wish you... drumroll please. We wish you a very happy and a great new year. Lovely jubbly.

Mr Egypt
Mr Egypt came to our school recently creating a fun experience for the children. Year 3 had lots of fun learning about Egypt and enjoyed games and stories. Overall we can agree that Year 3 had a brilliant time at the workshop and we all have to thank the teachers that arranged it but most importantly Mr Egypt for going out of his way to make learning fun for the children.

Year 6 Kinder Transport Workshop
On the 21st of January Year 6 had a Kinder transport Workshop to widen their understanding of WW2 from a Jewish's person perspective. They taught them all about how a Jew lived and did during 1938. Jews weren't allowed to go to school, have a pet , have a car or driving license have rights and call on the telephone. Some parents called their son to report what happened after all the anti Jew laws were added. This led to the son shooting a German and leading to the night of broken glass. Where all Germans were allowed to break in and rob Jewish properties. By now Britain had a change of heart towards the Jews allowing children from 3 to 17 to go to Great Britain.
I'm sure that all of Year 6 enjoyed the workshop and thank you to the staff of the Holocaust Museum in Nottingham.
A big thank you to Eden's grandma who came into Yr 6 and gave them a memorable experience. She talked about how you would pack you suitcase, and how it would be like on the train. Overall it was a very interesting experience to listen so THANK YOU!

Chinese New Year
Happy 9th Day of Chinese New Year!!!
This year is the year of the Snake! So, anyone who is turning 12 after January the 29th because that is when Chinese New Year is taking place. Now I am going to tell you how Chinese New Year exists. First, I am going to tell you how the zodiac started. Once there was a cat and rat. The rat wanted to know which animal was the fastest so he went to the cat, "Let's hold a race. All the animals in the land can join." Because the cat thought he would win he placed a bet on that who ever won would be first in the zodiac. On the night of the race they all lined up [next to the river who ever got to the other side first won] ready for the man to say go. when he did the rat new he couldn't swim so he jumped on to the ox who didnt notice. so when the ox got close enough to the other side he jumped and won.
this is the order of the animals.
Rat, Ox,Tiger, Rabbit,Dragon, Snake,Horse, Goat,Monkey, Dog, Pig.
How we celebrate Chinese New Year;
I celebrate by putting the Chinese word for luck on our doors, we burn our old jades and get new ones
Happy new year!

Nursery Learning
These last two weeks, Nursery have been focusing on the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears. They’ve also been learning interesting non-fiction facts about bears, like their winter hibernation and diet. The children practiced cutting with scissors to create finger puppets and develop their fine motor skills (using small muscles to control movements in areas like hands, fingers etc.). They were also role-playing Goldilocks, using props, such as masks and wooden bears. Nursery have also been learning about safety like not entering others’ homes and respecting private property. The children were encouraged to use a variety of size and temperature vocabulary. Here are some examples: small, medium, large for size and for temperature words like hot, cold and just right.
Let's have a big cheer for the Nursery team!

Reception Learning about People Who Help Us
Reception are a smart bunch of kids. But. There's a BIG but. We still need to learn. This is why school exists, right? Even if it is quite unnecessary information, like buses! Which is exactly what Reception have been learning about. Even I don't know much about buses. Like I said, they are a smart bunch! They have used their fantastic acting skills to pretend to be Naughty Bus, which is a story all about a bus who is very naughty! They even made a bus, which acts like a mini version of an acual one! If your child is from Reception, you can ask them for more info. Meanwhile, we need to drive into the more serious stuff. As you might already know, children in KS1 learn Phonics, which is very important for their future spelling lessons. Most classes have been doing Phonics for years! Can you believe that? And can you believe that, Reception, one of the youngest years in the school, have smashed it when they did it for their first time? Well, wether you like it or not, they have! I think that, soon enough, they will become fantastic spelling bees!

Year 4 trip to Natural History
On 28th January 2025, Y4 visited the Natural History Museum, excited for a day ahead packed with discovery and wonder! They learned about forces of natural disasters and experienced a dramatic earthquake simulator showing what it was like during the 1995 Japan earthquake. Very scary! Year 4 also attended a fascinating workshop where they witnessed an erupting volcano. Don't worry, the children were safe from lava because instead it erupted pom poms! Year 4 had an incredible and informative day. Thank you to all of the teachers who helped arrange this fantastic trip!

Year 6 at the RAF Museum
On Friday, 17.01.2025, Year 6 were lucky enough to visit the RAF museum where they saw many planes from World War 1 and 2. They also took part in a coding workshop where they tested their reaction and made their very own compasses. Afterwards, they went to see the fascinating planes which they thoroughly enjoyed taking interest in every plane. After lunch they visited hanger 3,4 and 5 where there were many amazing planes which were very interesting. Many of these plains have survived from world war 1 and 2 but some were replicas. There was one plane which had an illustration of Donald Duck because which Year 6 were very interested by!

KF2 Boccia Competition
Boccia is a great sport , which is very similar to bowls. How you play is one person roll a white ball called a jack and the other contestants must try and throw their ball as close to the jack as possible. All players must be seated while playing the game. Our kingfisher class went to play on the 21st of January. They had a great time and had lots of fun. They came 4th in the event. Boccia is played differently all over the world, for example in Turkey you have to throw the ball instead of rolling it. Thank you to all the lovely people who arranged this event!

Netball Victors
On Wednesday 5th February the netball team played a match against St Catherines. The first and second quarters did go our way with us leading quite comfortably. The third and fourth quarters were slightly more tricky. St Catherines did look as though they were fighting back as the gap in our scores got smaller and smaller. Our players held on and started to try even harder, determined not to let victory slip away. After a tense few minutes the final score was 7 -5 to Livingstone. Every player gave it their all and thoroughly deserved to win. A huge well done to Anastasia, Muthara, Nadine, Albeiro, Anwen, Elsie and Skye. A huge thank you to Mr Thomas and Mr Fisher for taking charge of the lunchtime training.
