In order to help reduce queuing on the day of our Summer BBQ Party, we are making some of the Summer Fair purchases available online. These can be pre-paid via Arbor school shop or purchased using cash in the school office during the coming week.
We hope that by enabling parents/carers to make purchases in advance, activities can be accessed more quickly as they will be pre-paid.
The following will be available for pre-payment from Monday:
- Adult Entry Ticket: £1.00 (free entry for children)
- Bouncy Castle £5.00 per child (this includes session during the school day and unlimited turns after school.
- Raffle Tickets: £5.00 per book (prizes to be announced)
Thank you to Georgina, Hannaneh and Helen for organising the Father’s Day stall. They did an excellent job, supported by some of the pupils in Year 6.
Next week, we are reliant on the support of parents and carers for donations and help with setting up the Summer Fair. Please let Georgina or Lina know if you are able to help in any way, as we depend on your support for its success.
Nursery
This week, we continued learning about different types of transport and the ways we can travel to the seaside. The children enjoyed exploring how boats float on water and carried out an exciting investigation, testing plastic and paper boats to discover which materials lasted the longest. In Phonics, we learned the sounds /e/ for egg and /l/ for leg. The children enjoyed practising the sounds through games, songs, and activities. Next week, we will be setting off on new adventures as we begin learning all about life on the farm!We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and wish all the dads, grandads, and special father figures a very Happy Father’s Day!
A reminder about Sports Day: Nursery children will be taking part in one race only. The race will take place at 9:00am for AM and full-day children, and at 1:30pm for PM children. Parents and carers are warmly invited to watch their child’s race (approximately the first 10 minutes). There is no expectation for Nursery parents to stay for the remainder of Sports Day unless they have other children in the school who are participating.
Kingfisher Early Years & Nurture
This week in Kingfisher Early Years, we started our transport topic, enjoying The Train Ride through letter matching, sequencing, and repeated phrases.
Phonics focused on ‘e’ (egg) and ‘l’ (leg)—please keep noticing these sounds.
In Bluebirds, we explored On the Farm with Farmyard Hullabaloo and The Little Red Hen, working on initial sounds, sentence building, and fine motor skills.
We also enjoyed a visit to the pond, where the fish were more active and there were new resources to explore.
Reception
In Literacy, we have continued exploring rhyming words by reading, identifying, and matching pairs of words that rhyme. In Maths, we have been focusing on subtraction. The children have been using practical resources and their growing understanding of number to solve subtraction problems. We have also begun our learning about the past and present, sharing baby photos and discussing how we grow and change as we prepare for Year 1.
Preparations for our assembly are underway. The children have already started practising their lines and are doing a fantastic job. Please check your child's book bag for their lines and spend a little time practising them at home. Encourage them to use a clear, confident voice and remember their "big performance voice". Thank you for your support!

This weeks awards go to:
Fehn for showing great perseverance when subtracting and working hard to overcome a tricky challenge.
Ylli For always trying his best and working hard in everything he does.
Ruby for confidently sharing her ideas and showing a fantastic attitude towards her learning every day.

In Design and Technology, the class loved making their own fruit kebabs and demonstrated excellent knife skills, preparation and sensible behaviour throughout. Finally, a special mention from Mrs Fewster, who has been incredibly impressed with Year 1's enthusiasm, excellent behaviour and positive attitude during Music lessons.

In Maths, we have been looking at data and statistics. We have looked at bar charts and pictograms and simple interpretation questions.
Year 5's trip to Boulogne
Yesterday, Year 5 escaped the classroom - and the country! - venturing to Boulogne-Sur-Mer in Northern France. It was a long but exciting day - one that many of them described as, 'the best trip ever!'
The children visited a museum inside a castle; had lunch in a French restaurant; kept the French economy alive by going shopping; played on the beach; and visited one of Europe's largest aquariums: Nausicaa. They were well-behaved and polite, and many of them spoke French when ordering and paying for things, which made us very proud.
A huge 'merci beaucoup!' to Ms Papas for organising a fun- filled fulfilling experience (and for teaching them French to such a high standard), and to Mrs Cockburn, Mrs Phelan, Mrs Armstrong and Mr Sudbury for their help on the day. Thank you also to volunteer Mr 'Biscuits' for driving one of the minibuses.
