March Week 3

Friday 21st March
Girls Football Final vs Foulds!
The football talent at our school has been incredible over the years, and this year's girls' team proved once again what a skilled and determined group they are. We are always so proud of how our children play and conduct themselves, showing teamwork, resilience, and great sporting attitudes. The final was a tense and exciting match, with both teams playing brilliantly and giving it their all from start to finish. With just three minutes left on the clock, the game hung in suspense, and the atmosphere was electric. Then, we won a corner kick, and with perfect precision, the ball found the back of the net—securing us a fantastic victory! A huge well done to our team for their incredible effort, and thank you to everyone who came to support. What a match! Another final to remember which will go down in Livingstone's history as we have won the girls League three years in a row!
Well done to Elsie, Xhizela, Dotty, Daniella, Elia, Anastasia, Anwen, Muthara and Nadine.
Tag Rugby Tournament
We Are Barnet Champions!
We are absolutely thrilled to share that our incredible tag rugby team has been crowned Barnet Champions! We couldn’t be prouder of these children and of all those who have shown commitment by turning up to training every Monday—without them, this achievement wouldn’t have been possible.
Their determination, passion, courage, and discipline made them truly unstoppable. Each game was hard-fought, with every ounce of energy left on the pitch under the warm spring sun. Out of seven matches, they won every single one!
The team will now go on to represent Barnet at the London Youth Games, where they have the chance to become London Champions!
A huge well done to Nadine, Anastasia, Charlotte, Zainab, Eren, Lewis, Albiero, Anwen, and Elsie.

Red Nose Day

It was wonderful to see so many pupils dressed up for Red Nose Day. Thank you to everyone who sent in donations and to the pupils with sponsors for their Spelling Bee, please share your spelling scores with them. The teachers will be sending the results home today, and we ask that the forms are returned with sponsorship money as soon as possible.
We held a special assembly where Miss Breen and Mrs. Cockburn competed for the crown of best speller. Both did exceptionally well, but they were bamboozled by the word 'Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious'. We had many volunteers from Year 6, and Lukas was chosen to come to the front and attempt the spelling. What a performance! The word was spelt perfectly, and we were all impressed by his amazing ability.

Goodbye Ms Knappett

It was Ms Knappett's last day today at Livingstone and she is off to start her new job working with older pupils in a new school. She has worked at Livingstone for 14 years and contributed to the many amazing outcomes of many of our pupils. She has been an excellent team member and supportive of all her colleagues who had the pleasure of working with her.
Nursery and KFE
This week we welcomed Spring at last, and we discussed the changes it brings. We have noticed the longer days, the plants and animals waking up after the winter and the change in temperature.
We have continued to learn about people who help us, with our focus still on Ness the Nurse and also on how vets help animals. The children have been learning about the different emergency vehicles as well as role playing the role of a doctor in a hospital. If you need a bandage, plaster or your temperature taking you will be in safe hands!
We have been looking after the babies and learning about hygiene in class. Linked to this we have been learning the songs: 'Miss Polly had a Dolly', and ‘Here we go around the Mulberry Bush.’
Reception
We have had an 'egg-citing' week this week in Reception! We have been learning about baby animals and life cycles in a hands-on and real-life experience watching our duck eggs hatch into ducklings! The children have been developing every single area of learning from communication and language and mathematics to personal social and emotional to expressive arts and design. They have been inspired to write and we have been amazed by their independence and willingness to share and express their ideas. We are learning all about the start of Spring and have been looking at the flowers that grow in the world around us, noticing patterns, similarities and differences. We love this time of year in Reception class and are looking forward to another 'egg- cellent' week next week watching our ducklings grow and learn more about them before they are taken back to the farm to live out the rest of their lives. What signs of Spring can you spot over the weekend?
Year 1
Year 1 learnt all about religious leaders in R.E. this week and acted out several stories from the Christian Bible as well as the story of Buddha's enlightenment. In Maths we explored capacity and weight by using scales and concrete objects in class. We are puffin experts in English and are learning to write a fact file. Our daily phonics lessons continue and the pupils are really impressing us with their knowledge of Set 2 and 3 sounds as well as their fluency in reading multi- syllabic words.
We say farewell to Miss Knappett at the end of this week, thank her for all of her amazing work and wish her all the best in her new job.
We are so excited to welcome Spring; the children will be looking at the changing seasons in the upcoming 2 weeks in our Science lessons. If you find any signs of Spring on your travels, please bring them into school or email the photos to the office.
