June Week 2
Friday 16th June
We, at Livingstone, would like to extend our condolences to the victims of the Grenfell Tower incident. This morning, parents/carers donated a number of supplies to help those who have been affected by this tragedy and we will continue to help by donating the money we make in future events to charities that will help these victims.
The school council have organised a 'Sock Day’ on the 4th July to raise money for victims of this tragedy and the terrorist acts in Manchester and London. Pupils can come into school on that day and wear their favourite socks for a donation.
Music Festival-On Wednesday evening, our choir sang an amazing repertoire of songs including opera at the Artsdepot Theatre. We were very proud of all the pupils, as their behaviour was exemplary and their performance outstanding. All the parents/carers who were able to attend had a wonderful evening. Thank you to Mrs Britton and Miss Finn for working with the children throughout the year and for putting on a performance of such a high standard. DVDs of the event are available to order at the office.
The Book Fair is coming to our school from Monday 26th to Wednesday 28th June. Come and join us from 3:15 in the library on Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday where we will have a great selection of books for sale. Any books purchased will earn free books for the school.
Due to funding changes, prices for CABIN CLUB will increase in September. Please note that the service is not run for a profit and this is the first increase since the start. Also, for those of you who are not aware, the number used to contact the CABIN CLUB after school hours is 07960263145. The number is on the website and we have cards in the office.
Mr Sudbury will be holding a Book & Toy Sale on Wednesday 28th June with all the left-over donations from the Summer Fair. Prices range from 20p to £1.00 and every child will be limited to one item. We will also be putting out lost uniform for parents to reclaim or buy for a small donation at the end of the day. Money collected will be added to the donations for the School Council’s chosen charity.
Parents/Carers are invited to our Family Picnic themed on Arts and Crafts from around the world. The school will be open to parents from 11.00 onwards on Monday 26th June for parent/carers to see pupils working on different arts and crafts. Everyone is then welcome to stay from 12.00 onwards for a picnic on the field. The picnic will then be followed at 1.30 by KS2 Sports Day and more arts and crafts for KS1 and EYFS.
The Summer Fair was an outstanding success and we made over £4000. Thank you to all the pupils, parents, staff and friends of the school who helped and attended. Congratulations to Emily Gentle (ex-pupil) who won the Drone and Louis, also an ex pupil, who won the giant hamper. It was great to see so many past pupils and friends of Livingstone coming back to visit on the day. The weather was wonderful and the music at the event was a great hit. Finally, a big thank you goes to the PTA Committee of Catherine Baker, Kerry Warner, Rebecca McMahon and Maria Stephens who organised the event and their army of parent/carer and staff helpers. Their work was appreciated by all who attended the event and everyone had a great time.
