June Week 3

Friday 23rd June

Family Camp Night is taking place tonight and we are hoping that the rain holds off. It is important for the organisers that everyone participating shares the workload to make it the best experience possible for everyone and to ensure that the school is ready for the pupils to return on Monday.

Parents/Carers are invited to our Family Picnic themed on Arts and Crafts from around the world. The school will be open to parents from 11.00 onwards on Monday 26th June for parent/carers to see pupils working on different arts and crafts.  Everyone is then welcome to stay from 12.00 onwards for a picnic on the field. The picnic will then be followed at 1.30 by KS2 Sports Day and more arts and crafts for KS1 and EYFS.

The Book Fair is coming to our school from Monday 26th to Wednesday 28th June. Come and join us from 3:15 in the library on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday where we will have a great selection of books for sale by lots of exciting authors such as David Walliams, Jacqueline Wilson and Jeff Kinney with prices starting at £1.99. All commission earned form book sales allows us to purchase books for our Library,

Mr Sudbury will be holding a Book & Toy Sale on Wednesday 28th June with all the left-over donations from the Summer Fair.  Prices range from 20p to £1.00 and every child will be limited to one item. We will also be putting out lost uniform for parents to reclaim or buy for a small donation at the end of the day. Money collected will be added to the donations for the School Council’s chosen charity.

We took 7 members of Year 5 to Q E Boy's school on Wednesday for the Primary School challenge where we took part in four different challenges. The children did extremely well and completed some very difficult tasks! Well done to Jack C, Terri-Ann, Daisy, Jack E, William, Isabella and Bradniel.

Football Festival - we hosted a football tournament for 16 teams from around the Borough, arranged by Livingstone staff and supported by BPSS.  We had over 110 boys and girls showing off their football skills and representing their schools for the first time. The Livingstone teams did us proud and as the tournament went on the standard of their teamwork improved. A big thank you to Mr Gardner (who organised the event), Mr Thomas, Mr Boucon and Pete for refereeing the games. Also, another thank you to the PTA for organising and managing the drinks station on a very hot day.

Copthall - we took 45 pupils from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 for an athletics competition at the Allianz Stadium. In the morning, the pupils competed in the field events with Jack E (Yr 5) and Luke (Yr 4) winning the long jump and the javelin. We finished second out of 16 schools. In the afternoon, we competed on the track: Zoe (Yr 3), Karolina (Yr 3), Sarah C (Yr 4), Bradley (Yr 5) Luke (Yr 4) all won their events. We also had some very solid and consistent performances that placed 2nd and 3rd which made the competition very close. In the end we again finished a very close 2nd place. In the Tug of War: Felix and Mariella (Yr 3), Armand and Olivia (Yr 4), Harvey Y and Tida (Yr 5), and Harvey T and Brooke (Yr 6) won easily - no other school even got close to beating this dream team. We brought back the Tug of War trophy for the third year in a row. Overall, on a very hot day the children were amazing and again showed true grit, determination and sportmanship. Many thanks must go to Pete, Mr Gardner and Mr Thomas for coaching the children to achieve so well and also Mrs Church, Miss Breen and Mr Boucon for their help on the day. Bring on next year!
