January Week 4
Friday 27th January
On a foggy Monday morning, we took part in our first tag rugby league competition ever. In our first game we had a comfortable win beating Chalgrove 5-0! We unfortunately lost our next game but all was not lost. In our final group game we came up against our toughest competition yet, St Andrews. It was another close game but we came out victorious thanks to Jerom’s amazing attacking skills and our iron defence. Our semi-final match was against Cromer Road and despite trying our hardest to get through their defence unfortunately Cromer made a break through our defence and scored securing their place in the final and our place in the 4th vs. 3rd place playoff. We were still suffering from the shock and cold when we were playing Tudor for the Bronze medal and they quickly earned themselves a score, we tried our hardest but couldn’t get ahead and had to settle for 4th place. Congratulations to Danny B, Ugur, Jerom, Billy, Elijah, Christiana, Correl, Tillie and Terri-Ann. We are the 4th best in Barnet at Tag Rugby league. Not bad from a small school eh? (By Christiana)
On Thursday, there was a netball tournament at QE girls. It was freezing cold and the teachers complained more than the children did. Livingstone had a hard group but our teamwork helped us to win our group. In the semi-finals, we played Akiva and Holy Trinity but lost. The great thing is we came 4th out of 20 schools and we have the borough finals coming up. (By Jerom and Pau Y6)
On the same day we played All Saints in the cup. We started the game in the worst way possible, losing a goal and Bobby our star goal keeper due to injury. Thankfully it wasn’t too serious and he came back on up front. We soon got a goal back through Charlie, it was a great team goal with an excellent finish. Then not long after let another goal in. Elijah got us back to 2-2 with a good finish. It was all to play for until we let in a third and fourth through an own goal. Well played to everyone especially Joe who made his debut and Jerom and Pau who had already played in a netball competition that afternoon. Man of the match for some excellent defensive work is Harvey T. (By Bobby)
The girls also played their second league match against St John’s and despite playing in bitter weather conditions, everyone tried their best but they lost 6-2 to a very strong team. Well done girls!
